Question about some of the religious nut jobs such as found on
Rapture Ready site: Why will so many of them cry out the meme "I can't wait to see my Jesus" or "I'll be glad when I get to my final home" call 911 if in an accident rather than letting their bodies release them to their final and ultimate reward?

Fundie sister in law had people call 911 when her husband had heart attack while in church. A church member nurse gave CPR until EMT arrived, but no one else "laid hands" on him - in spite of their belief in that sort of thing as a cure.

4. Fear of the Dark
The eternal dark of death causes a fear in some people that breeds superstition.

3. Sounds like their group had a lapse in faith
They put it in the knowledge and power of man. It's a good question, why weren't they in a hurry to see their friend to the other side?

6. Interesting you brought this up
We saw a terminally ill patient who was a strong fundamentalist. He was trying to see what we could do to prolong his life--not because he wasn't ready to see Jesus but rather because he wanted to stay with his wife and family a little bit longer. I think he used his faith to help him go through his final days, which, sadly, were quite painful. And I am sure his widow is using her faith to help her go through her grieving process.

7. They don't want to die - they want to be "raptured"
caught up bodily into heaven while still alive. Poor, silly things.

8. Probably because it would be considered suicide not to try to save your life
Which they see as a no-no (Of course, Jesus could have saved himself, and Sampson could have been considered suicide as well).

Just a guess.

9. They need to show their faith to others
by registering as possible rapturites so we can ban them from driving, flying, or doing anything that would endanger others when they take the big ride to their sky king.

10. I found that the people who boasted their love for Jesus the most
were the least likely to want to hurry their meeting time. In fact, they wanted to stall him off as long as possible.

I always wonder if the loudest worshipers are the deepest doubters.
