Al Gore
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 11:57 PM by helderheid
We need you to run. There are many scientists who can continue the fight on global warming and thanks to you, they will get the attention they need. Think of the attention they'd get if you were our President.

I know you know how dirty this fight is - how they will steal it if they can. I know you won't let that happen again.

I have listened to your speeches - you know what is at stake.

I also know you are not cruel. You wouldn't flirt at running and then leave us high and dry. EDITED TO ADD THIS ISN'T SEXUAL :wtf:

I know Republicans, Greens, Democrats (Liberal and Conservative), and Independents who would vote for you.

We need you. The whole world needs you. Please run.

I know he's really into a specific interest right now...and it will be traumatic for him to face the MSM and all of the other toxic politics...we've HEARD & READ here on DU all of the reasons why he should not run...

Yet, he's coming out with a new book that covers the ethics of our political system (the one that's so toxic, he can't face it :sarcasm:).

Yet, he would be the one American that can win our country back credibility, as a kind and gentle nation that values peace and human rights worldwide.

I do not want a man to do something he feels he's no longer interested in. Yet, I remain unconvinced that Gore no longer desires the US presidency. No he didn't run in 2004...The 2000 election still cut to the bone. Additionally, his mother was gravely ill (she died 12-15-04).

Whether he runs (I hope he does) or not, he's a great American hero!

He has his flaws, but his time out of politics has proven that his concern for everyone on the planet is genuine and he is willing to work hard to improve the well-being of people, no matter who they are or where they are. I would support a Gore candidacy.

24. Thoughtfully and gingerly picking up the turquoise courtesy stellaphone.
"Hello. . .hello. . . hello. . .hello. . ."

Hmmm. . . I'm a bit muddled about this.

Not sure I'd really know what approach to take. Dunno how much of the history you know and excuse any redundancy but the whole idea of OBSW came out of the election day prayer thread. The most effective prayers are said by some to be aligned with neutrality and deeply infused with gratitude.

I had a funny conversation with a guy on MM's camera crew shortly before the election and I had told him of my intention to craft a prayer to neutralize any malicious code hidden in the vote tallying software so that the true will of the people be reflected. He was a bit of a prankster and said "can't you shift it our way." I said "there's no need. . .we ARE the majority after all."

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=2589421

Some statisticians estimate that 3 million votes were shifted in '06 versus 8-11 million votes switched in '04. A lot of the improvement unquestionably came from heightened public awareness and vigilence in the precincts for sure. "Creatrix" only knows how much good the prayer did. It certainly didn't hurt.

And since the midterms I've been creating semi weekly prayer threads to try an encourage progressives to at least once daily have the cerebral focus of the RW with all their talking points, their huge media BS-horns, and their incessant "oligarchical hypnogoguery" in efforts to harness both sides of our brains instead of just banging our intellects against their ever present thick wall of deceit.

Still I was spritually trained to never interfer with the growth of an individual, though maybe I violated that rule slightly by recommending that folks visualize Pelosi speaking behind a podium with the presidential seal on it last week. Not sure though, as it would only expedite real justice.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=443035

But when it comes to Al Gore, it's very different. Though I know there was at least one other incident of someone winning the popular vote and losing the electoral college, I still feel that NO ONE knows what it's like to be in his moccasins or the crap he had to endure. For me I get a sort of spiritual "vibes off" on him.

He just seems so much happier and free now.

I often refer to him as the patron saint of DU since it was born of his unfair loss, during *'s first "ignore your nation." (that's one of my better verbal faux pas EVER that I actually said to a dear friend on the stellaphone about *'s second one when I was talking too fast) with the infamous "shaking the sign" incident.

This recent diversion and misrepresentation that the 8 prosecutors were dumped because of their failure to investigate "election fraud" after 4 compromised elections is so over the top in terms of diabolical disingenuousness. Our illustrious Land Shark insists that it's far better framed as "voter fraud."

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x469651

The only way I can really envision him as the nominee is certainly not through the primaries, he's already proved himself there but by something strange happening at the convention, wherein he might be recruited by someone else's default.

Something screwy is hovering for sure.

Will think on it some more.

For now. . . this just came through. . .

"We are creating with Spirit amazing grace, truth, and justice be with Al Gore in fulfilling his divine soul's purpose in this lifetime. (and while we're at it) We are creating with Spirit great healings and strength for Elizabeth Edwards.

(and from earlier in the week)

"In the spirit of the collective "We The Sentient Beings of Planet Earth" are creating transparency and accountability in our leadership. We are creating with spirit restoration of truth and justice, as the true American wayyy. We are creating with spirit fairness in our future elections. We are creating with spirit a lasting peace on Earth.

Hope that helps and thanks for the assist to dear rumpel.

Perhaps we could do this collectively every week??! I agree with you that Gore has been through it and back. AND, He is more at peace with himself than I have ever seen anyone in a long long time. I wish him more than well. However, if it is his soul's purpose to lead us as a country, I will help him as much as I am able.

Sending him collective positive thoughts weekly or bi-weekly would only help him, yes?

34. Yes it would only help for sure.
It just doesn't feel at all right to manipulate someone else's will is all.

It's funny. Every time I post a prayer thread I think, "Okay I've done enough. Time to focus on my own stuff." Then within a few days another wave invariably pours through me. I'll contribute as frequently and as forever long as I am able.

If I keep it sans astrospeak you may see it on the Greatest. I usually put early drafts on the astro forum. Always ask for suggestions in honing the message. Feel free to jump in whenever spirit moves you to do so. We mostly have great fun.

best and thanks for the encouragement.

That is simple nonsense.

What he has been doing and continues to do is invaluable, and it's what the world needs.

I also think your assessment that you, as an American Dem, would be left "high and dry" if Gore doesn't run is a defeatist attitude that you should purge.

32. What's my agenda? Wtf?
I am not "so concerned about what American Dems think about Gore", I told the OP that suggesting that Gore is the only hope for Dems is a defeatist attitude. Since when is an honest observation indicitive of an "agenda"?

The Dem party in the US would not be left "high and dry" if Gore does not run to be POTUS.

The OP is correct in that the world does not Gore, but he is fulfilling that need very nicely already.

41. The World Already Has Him
I believe that the work Mr. Gore is now doing is not only necessary but crucial to the future sustainability of our planet and should not be used as a political issue for any other campaign but the one he states he is involved in: The one for our planet. The stakes are too high to simply relegate this crisis to a partisan political campaign issue that stifles results, or to use it simply to gain attention for specific groups by using it as some other groups are now doing instead of joining in this crucial cause.

There is no longer a debate that humans are causing climate change. It is a known scientific fact that the spewing of CO2 into our atmosphere (now at the rate of 70 million tons a day) and other gases such as methane is causing the rapid acceleration of glacier melt that we are seeing from the United States, to South America, to the Himalayas, to Africa, to New Zealand, to the Arctic and Greenland. Not only will this drastically change temperature, but also weather patterns, rainfall patterns, and global warming will increase because less ice at the top of the world soaks in more sun rather than reflecting the proper amount of infrared rays back to space to stabilize our climate. This will have catastrophic affects on our future if we do not work to reign in our rapacious use of fossil fuels.

The climate crisis is now also causing our oceans to become more acidic, which is bleaching our coral and killing necessary organisms that provide balance to that ecosystem, as well as plunging almost 35% of this world into more severe and sustained drought, which is leading to life threatening water and food shortages which are only predicted to intensify by 2025 if this is left unchecked. Locachara Island in India is the first casualty of rising seas with many more predicted, and the Ayles ice shelf in the Arctic broke off 16 months ago and was the length of 11,000 football fields! Glavial melt is accelerating rapidly, and it is now threatening the ocean conveyor belt. Global warming is cited by scientists as the cause, and it is real.

NASA, The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the National Science Academy, the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment, as well as other scientific organizations have all corroborated this and have been warning us about what we are doing to our planet by our own hand, as Mr. Gore has also been doing for almost thirty years, which is related in his prescient movie An Inconvenient Truth. We are now seeing those warnings that have not been heeded for the last thirty years coming full circle, and we cannot ignore them any longer.

Mr. Gore sees the true immensity of this crisis and has gone beyond the pedantic and phony political fray and process in this country that would stifle his passion on this issue. From his testimony on the Hill this week it was also obvious to see by the radical plan he proposed that he is now at a point in his life where he is at peace with himself and free to devote all of his time to the one endeavor that has always been his heart, and I for one am very happy for him and secure in the knowledge that as long as he is the advocate for us and this planet that progress will be made. The progress he has made on this crisis within less than one year as a private citizen/statesman trumps THIRTY years of stonewalling and inaction by a Congress that even last Wednesday tried to skew the questions to nuclear and coal. They will continue to drag their feet while we continue to see this crisis deepen. It will only be due to the inspiration, education, and action of ALL people on a global scale led by a grassroots leader with dedication to this cause who will keep us from going over the abyss. Al Gore is doing tremendous work on this already, and it is now time for the people to join him instead of always harrassing him about leading as if he is not doing so now.

To intimate that unless he runs for some tainted corrupt post in a system still being run by those who have been in power since JFK was assassinated because he dared to buck the status quo is beyond ignorant regarding reality. This isn't about playing games on a forum. This is about working to save human civilization, and anyone who thinks that his trying to do that now is not important unless he plays their political games frankly doesn't deserve him.

There is a lot of hostility from a few here who believe Gore running out-weighs anything and everything. If you express your opinion that Gore is already performing about as invaluable a service in the fight against Global Warming as he can and that running for POTUS would only distract him from that, they will chase you around and question what your "agenda" is (read: r u a freeper?).

Many agree with us on this, Gore included I believe.
