Rove's prediction
Source: POLITICO

Speaking to students at Miami University, Karl Rove—who has thought a bit about the politics of national security —predicts:

“One year from now, Gitmo won’t be closed.... If it is, there will be an uproar in the U.S. about where to put these people.”

Which is to say, expect the GOP to keep laying a groundwork for attacks on this issue.

The POLITICO article links to University of Miami student newspaper The Miami Hurricane where Rove is reported to also have said "interrogation tactics used by the CIA during Bush’s term in office were not torturous" and “You bet we squeeze them for information,”.

11. There is this huge fortified ranch in Wyoming that was fortified using
our tax dollars - bunkers and hidey holes, it would be perfect place to house these people. It is very secure and out of the way and we paid for it to be strong.

6. If there's one thing we should keep in mind is that Rove knows how
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 12:02 PM by snappyturtle
to use the fear factor. I do not get why we should be so fearful of these prisoners. After they are released AND if they do something destructive, I see it as we created the problem. Hey, Rove is it THAT bad?

edit: wording

9. How 'bout we close Gitmo to all but Rove, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld and Rice?
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 12:05 PM by mnhtnbb
They could serve out their sentences for treason in a tropical location! Cheney ought to love it.

:sarcasm:

10. I know where to put those Gitmo prisoners. There is a place in Crawford, Texas
that has lots of room. Some would make a GREAT display in the new Bush library. They could earn a paycheck as an exhibit. Then there is a new mansion in Dallas where some could be wait staff.
I believe Cheney has a big house in Maryland that could use some help. I am sure Rummy and Gonzo could use some help.

15. Why are the Republicans so afraid..
of Gitmo? They came out of the box, hard and fast with terror, terror, terror. It's going to be 90 days before any legal framework will be considered, a year before the prison will be shut down, and yet their freaking right the fuck out.
