impressive catch by Media Matters
what they do is extremely important. No wonder the RW hates them. And they really do hate them. When they blatantly lie, they don't want people knowing it. No one's supposed to be paying attention, especially when they're on Fox.

And they hate Olbermann for highlighting MM's work. I hope Keith gives Rove the "Worst Person" for this one.

Summary: Discussing President Obama's executive order stating that a detainee in U.S. custody cannot be subjected to interrogation techniques not listed in the Army Field Manual, Karl Rove falsely asserted that "he Army Field Manual ... prohibits you from using good cop-bad cop in interrogating." In fact, the Army Field Manual explicitly permits good cop-bad cop interrogations under the name of "Mutt and Jeff" interrogations, which involve two interrogators "display opposing personalities and attitudes toward the source."

1. For whatever good it would do to do such a routine
As that is so old and worn out I can't image anyone going for it these days.

2. they're still human
they're well trained people, but no amount of training will keep them from being scared when they're caught.

Anyway, you could say the same thing about advertising. I "can't imagine anyone going for" a product just because a celebrity says he uses it, but we do.

4. Alas, unlike torture, it works
why it is used everywhere, from your local police precinct to questioning of prisoners of war

10. Because at one time it worked very well
However, that was back in the 60's and 70's. The only people who would be susceptible to it today would be someone who is naive and has never been questioned by a police agency before. If the people we take into custody are in fact real terrorist you can rest assure they have been through this grind before and it is useless.

But the public would be unaware of this, like they are unaware of most things, and so it makes it sound like something is really being taken away when in fact it is not. Before I am misunderstood that does not mean I am in favor of torturing people as to do so is in fact, 1.) immoral and 2.) not effective.

5. Main point: Rove lying again...
...either by deliberate falsehood, or by pretending he knows what the manual says when he has no idea.

3. Note to Karl Rove:
Our enemies already know about the good cop-bad cop interrogation tactic.

It's been on all the television shows.

So, going with the Republican thought process on this, it wouldn't be effective since our enemies do know about it. So why are you worried about it anyway?

And why the hell do I even care what you think? GO TO JAIL, CRIMINAL!

6. Media Matters deserve our wholehearted support..
and a few dollars now and then too.

They are keeping eagle-eyes out and letting everyone know when the worst possible lies are being slipped into the "conventional wisdom" pot that is corporate media...

8. Don't they realize
1) they are talking about detainees who may have been subjected to torture and then,
2) released by the BUSH administration.

When this report came out, nobody released (if anyone actually has been) by under Obama could possibly have been discovered to be fighting against the U.S.
