I am. Last year I finally made 50% of the highest salary I ever made in 1993. What I made then was by no means astronomical.

14. I concur.
I'm self-employed which is sometimes worse, as I can't get unemployment insurance when I don't have work.

7. Financially, I did quite well during the Bush years
And I can say without hesitation that I'd give it all back and then some to have Al Gore win Florida in 2000.

8. I'm making twice what I made 10 years ago...
But it is in keeping with my career path, and I haven't topped out yet.

All that said, I'm scared as hell. I can't save any money right now because things are too expensive. My home has lost $150k in equity, and my IRA is worth half what it was two years ago, as is my 401k. There is not enough time to recoup... I'll never have enough to retire. That is no exaggeration. I can't even make contributions to my 401k right now.

10. I'm at my high point but haven't increased in 8 years.
So with inflation, I'm losing ground. Still, I can't complain.

15. I retired, does that count?
No bills and making about a quarter of what I did when I was working.

17. After 8 years on my present job.
I finally make what I made 10 years ago at a different job.

When I started this one, I earned 20 cents more per hour than I earned in 1980 at a good union job.

20. Hell, I am barely made 10% of my 2001 salary last year and am unemployed today.
A rarely mentioned side-effect of the "free trade" economy is that people like me have gone from contributing tens of thousands of tax dollars to the government to contributing nothing. If I can make just a little less this year, I can start receiving the earned income credit, so I get to be an actual drain on the economy.

21. I've been down to a crushing 40% of not a whole lot
but am switching up to get back to around 60-65 percent. Its way ugly out here.

I can't imagine the benefits lost from the continual reboot. I'd have like a month of vacation by now, left alone and at least enough increase to keep pace with inflation. BAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!

American dream, hard work, loyalty, sacrifice, blah, blah, blah. All bullshit.

23. I am making much more than ever before, but . . .
. . . my buying power has decreased significantly. AND I now work two jobs!

Throughout the 90s, I was able to save a significant amount each month with only one job, plus have money left over for fun stuff. Now, it's rare when I have ANYTHING left over after paying bills.

:grr:
