NM-Sen. Domenici's Sky-High Approvals Fall Back to Earth
by: James L.
Sat Mar 24, 2007 at 02:15:57 AM EDT

During the nearly two years that SurveyUSA has tracked Senatorial approval ratings, Republican Sen. Pete Domenici of New Mexico has never seen approval ratings below 60%. Well Pete, that era is now over.

Granted, a 57/35 approve/disapprove rating is by no means catastrophic, but as the U.S. Attorney scandal continues to bubble, I wouldn't expect to see his numbers improve any time soon, either. And if an ethics complaint against Pajama Pete manages to materialize in the Senate over his role in the David Iglesias scandal, expect to see even further damage to his "Saintly" image in the state.

1. Gawd I hope his ratings tank.
What he did by threatening the US Attorney is despicable. And then, just like all repervlikins do, he tried to lie about it. I think he took the "I don't remember" tack.

New Mexico can do a helluva lot better than him.

2. Let's field a strong candidate and give the man a run for his money.

3. I thought Pete was preparing the way for......
Heather Wilson :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

From what I've heard, she's in this thing up to her neck.

4. That's the impression I'm getting, too. She only barely won re-election
last time.

I'm thinking we can knock her off with another strong challenge, and maybe find a challenger for Domenici, too.

5. I hope both he and Heather Wilson are totally tainted by...
...what they did. I watched her speak the other day on the floor of the House and IMO she makes Pete look almost human. OMG...what a horrible thought that she could become one of the 100 in the Senate. Hopefully this will ruin any chances she ever had for moving on to take Pete's place.

IMO, this is a story of just desserts ~~ she did wrong to try and further her political career and maybe the results will be that this will end it and not enhance it. Karma is a bitch at times. She should have realized this, IMO.
