Pet food recall leaves shelter cupboards bare
Here's a sad side effect of the pet food recall.
Shelters have had to toss out food as well, and are in need of donations.

I just picked a couple of news stories at random--I'm sure it's the same everywhere.

Oh, and if you didn't know, shelters *desperately* need wet food. (I didn't know myself until I asked a worker why they were asking for donations of wet food specifically.) The animals are in a stressful situation, of course, and many need the tasty wet food to get them to eat at all.

So donate to your local shelter, please, if you can find any kind of wet food that seems to be safe.....

7. Fancy Feast also is unaffected.
It's the only wet food one of my cats will eat, even if he's very hungry.

3. Well, I guess maybe I posted this too early in the AM...
I'm not too proud to do a self-kick for the shelter dogs and cats.

4. Thank you for posting this
I will go to the store today and get some wet food to donate to a shelter in honor of our three uncivilized felines. We'd fed three packets of Nutro Naturals wet (as a treat) before discovering the recall. Thank God they were not one of the ones affected, and our cats are happy and healthy.

8. I hadn't thought about this at all, but it makes total sense.
Thanks for posting. I'm going to check with some local shelters and see if they need food.
