They knew they didn't stand a chance in hell of winning this time. Bush did such a good job fucking over the GOP, they knew that mainstream America wouldn't touch them with a 10-foot pole.

So now they are trotting out the "new" faces of the GOP. Sarah Palin's VP run was simply to get her in the public eye. Last year was a test run for the GOP, so that they could establish Palin as a name brand. Over the next few years, watch as she continues to make the media rounds, popping up here and there to dish out her phony "folksy charm".

Now with Steele stepping up as the GOP chairman, it gives him plenty of time to present himself to America. The GOP is going to tell us how much the their party has advanced over just the past decade, how that their party is truly the party of tolerance and diversity.

Led by their Pied Piper Limbaugh, they openly pray for Obama to fall on his face, even if it means that the United States suffers through a Depression for the next few years. They are going to run Obama's name through the mud, tie him to everything negative that happens in the world. Israel goes to war with Iran? Obama's fault. Earthquake in California? Obama's fault. Gas prices over $4.00 per gallon? Obama's fault. Record numbers of Americans out of work? Obama's fault. They'll conveniently ignore the obvious fact that this economic downturn started under Dubya's watch, that it's a direct result of runaway GOP policies.

They'll present Palin and Steele as the "saviors", the only ones who can restore "honor" and "integrity" to America. Just wait.

They honestly, really think that most African Americans who voted for Obama did so ONLY because he was black. Nevermind that they agreed with many of Obama's positions. Nope, black people are just a bunch of ignorant people who vote for someone simply because they're black.

So they're going to try and capitalize on that. Are they in for a shock.

Look, thats 4 years from now. No one has a clue what the political climate is or the issues of the day are. By then, she might be a distant joke or a major player in the public sphere, but to call it now is a bit premature.

I think its likely, due to her horrible press and idiot caricature, she will burn straight out of the primaries if she tries to run (just as the once and future president, America's mayor, Rudy G. did). Its likely she will not even run based on internal polling, in order to avoid embarrassment. Maybe she will re-emerge in a decade when everyone has forgotten her idiocy.

13. I doubt it. Palin was not supported by much of the GOP's establishment,

and Steele is... well, he's black. The party may want to make some token effort to "reach out" to minorities, but they know that nominating a black man will cost them the support of their racist base.

I think the next Republican presidential nominee will be the whitest white man on the planet. Someone like Romney.

I think there's a LOT of positioning going on here - and some extreme attempts at perception management. They're planting seeds and hoping to position themselves strategically for the games ahead.

I know there's a large school of thought that says - "Bring 'em ON!" Keith Olbermann is almost praying for it - more palin, as much as he can get. I just wish she'd go away. I value my low blood pressure. Not sure how long I'd maintain it if she had a much higher profile. I know she'd generate material, and she might be very good for continued Democratic victories, but I'd still happily do without it.

18. I predict the Alaskan girl-bully will join the US Senate in 2010,

taking Murkowski's seat. She will spend 6 years trying to rehabilitate her image to moderates, who currently view her as stupid, uncontrollable, and an expert only in snark. The MSM will give her plenty of air time to do so, and if she feels successful will run for President in 2016 against a Dem woman (Hillary Clinton or Claire McCaskill?) Will Palin's running mate be black? I kind of doubt it as the Republican base is highly racist.
