It seemed like the entire store was marked down to 75%. I bought all my kids clothes for next year. Which is what I usually do throughout the year at clearance racks, but I was able to buy most of what we will need for 3 kids next year in 2 hours. Also tons of toys marked down 30-75%, I've never seen that at Target (but then I don't usually shop toys, just noticed how much clothes were marked down, so maybe it's normal?). So I thought about all the cousins/friends birthday's that are coming up. I don't think I spent more than $5 on any one item. The stuff for my 6-month-old was all under $3.

Husband was a little peeved, until he realized how much crap I got. I won't be shopping for a long time though, maybe for special occasions. Any extra money we have is either getting saved or spent on lessons for the kids. So not sure how much I will continue to stimulate!

I did go and buy a 19 dollar filter for my fish tank yesterday. The old one broke and the fish were gasping for air. That means more ramen noodles and peanut butter this week but the fish come first.
sigh..I have been putting off getting my car maintenanced. Its got to be done soon, I am 2000 miles over the oil change limit and the transmission is acting up. Maybe after taxes.

20. Wow. I've calculated it's actually cheaper and better to go with the 30K tires, especially on an

older car.

For example:

A set of new tires @ $25 each, rated for 30K to 40K miles. With taxes, and additional fees and installation, it comes out to say, $150.

Replace them every 30,000 miles.

So, you get 90,000 miles on 3 sets of tires for about $450.00


Or, the route your husband took, and getting 75K on a set of 70K rated tires for $480.00

It's cheaper, and you get an extra 15K miles out of it by spending $150 at a time. In addition, $450 spaced out over the years in equal $150 installments isn't as much a shock to the wallet as $480.

Plus, what happens if you get a flat? There goes that expensive tire and you spend for a new one. I'd much rather have to replace a $25 tire than a $60 one.

I went out to a tire place and bought a used wheel and retread tire as a spare. Total cost was $25.00. I didn't want that cheesy puny doughnut thing they often give as a spare. Plus, a retread is often good for several thousand miles as opposed to that doughnut spare that is only good for several hundred miles.

We weren't quite as stimulating as you were, but did manage to lay out about $600 in veterinary bills. Usually, the vet's office has several people waiting when we get there. Lately, the lobby is often empty. A lot of heartbreaking stories there, I'm sure.

We have a friend who is unemployed, so we're hiring him for a week..paying him $800 to dig the foundation for the walls, break up the old sidewalk, lay new sprinkler lines, and then the concrete (getting stamped, patterned) will be done by someone else..

We're going to put in some small palm trees & landscaping later after we sod what's left of the yard :)

We've spent over $7500 in the last two months using as much American made or local stores as possible.

Sadly WalMart got a few of our bux, but not until after I tried every other place I could think of for the drapes, including my locally owned fabric store as I was willing to make my own.

AND we went out to eat twice yesterday, both at local mom and pop restaurants

We don't have a lot of money, but when it is gone, that creates a vacuum and somehow more money shows up.
Been working for me for over 35 years now.

Ex: Mr. D. had to make an emergency trip to the West Coast in Oct ( his brother died).
and that blew a hole in our budget.
3 weeks after his return we got a letter from Soc. Sec. disability, saying they owed him money for back payments ...determination error.
Enclosed was the exact amount of the cost of the trip...........O8)

This kind of thing happens a lot.

Somehow we always seem to have "just enough" for the moment, as long as the moments are not
extraveagant.
