Maybe bumper-sticker outcry deals with wrong obscenity
Maybe bumper-sticker outcry deals with wrong obscenity
By MIKE HENDRICKS

Ashley Holm has a two-word bumper sticker on the car she parks in the garage of the Kansas Statehouse.

The first is the four-letter “f” word; the second is “war.”

In a college town like Lawrence, every third or fourth car has a bumper sticker like that. But in Topeka it sticks out, especially in the Capitol garage.

<skip>

Did Merrick try to have Holm fired from her job as a paid Capitol intern?

<skip>

And of course by that I mean the obscenity that is war. A lot of folks were worked up about the f-word. None that I know of publicly condemned war in general or the one we’re now fighting in particular.

<skip>

What’s the greater obscenity, after all? A cuss word on somebody’s bumper? Or the bodies of men, women and children being blown to bits by insurgents in Baghdad?

Frankly, I don’t get worked up as much about the display of foul language as I do by those lists in the newspaper of our dead servicemen and women.

1. Nice that "Fuck" is more obscene than murder and death for no reason

2. We learned this from South Park, the movie.

Sheila Broflowsky: Just remember what the MPAA says: Horrific, deplorable violence is okay, as long as people don't say any naughty words!

3. That film should have won best picture, absolutely no hyperbole
BRILLIANTLY written, and they could not have lampooned the predicted response to their film any better.

4. In the movie "Apocolypse Now" Colonel Kurtz
in his last transmission, before being killed by Captain Willard makes the observation, that we rain death on innocent Vietnamese and Cambodians yet the commanders object to the word "F**k" written on the bombs because they are obscene.
