Two Years Later , Suffolk At Walter Reed Awaiting Surgery

Are American Soldiers wounded in battle getting the treatment they deserve?

Staff Sergeant John Shannon nearly died in the streets of Iraq after he was shot in the face. Two days later, he was admitted to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. He's been there ever since. Shannon's wife says a sea of lost paperwork has made her husband's recovery even more difficult.

Yet the families are quiet about this outrage and many more like it. And they still let themselves be props for photo ops. I know the soldiers themselves are supposed to keep quiet, but why are the families not organized, vocal, and getting a lot of outside publicity and help.

14. IMHO your title is disingenuous.

IMHO you went out of your way to make it sound like he's spent 2 years with no surgery whatsoever and just left without ANY medical care. In fact, he's had 3 surgeries in the last 2.5 years since being injured.

I totally agree the case worker and paperwork problems at both Walter Reed and within the system once soldiers are released from Walter Reed are absolutely disgusting and must be quickly changed - but IMHO it's important to keep it real instead of going for the inflammatory. Just MHO.
