McCain: We Won't Meet Fundraising Goals

GRAFTON CO., NH -- Sen. John McCain said his presidential campaign would not meet its fundraising goals this quarter, and his campaign advisers acknowledged that ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney may wind up raising more.

"We're going to pay a price for it because we got a late start," McCain told reporters in New Hampshire. "We're not going to meet the goals we had." He later said he did not know whether Romney would outpace him, but his advisers did not downplay that possibility.

McCain contends that his exploratory committee's opening in December and the rush of the busy holiday season did not allow his campaign to begin fundraising in earnest until January. But once that month began, owing in part to a busy Senate schedule, McCain attended only two fundraisers and only two in February. There are twenty scheduled for all of this month, and another twenty in April.

Other than that, he's been campaigning non-stop since 1999. He already knows his donors and what they should give him, so if he's below his expectations, that's pretty ominous for his campaign.

whatever. McCain has been whoring all over the US, selling himself to whoever will listen. He's been doing this ever since he lost in 2000. I guess he thought if he played nice with Chucklenuts he would just naturally inherit the presidency in '08.

Kissing up doesn't work. He should know that. He's got nothing.

Though why anyone is throwing money to Mittens is a mystery to me.

Let's see, a former maverick who has now SOLD OUT and hugged the pretzeldent who shamelessly attacked him with lies in the election, then proposed to out-stupid Bush by sending in MORE troops while 65% of the public is heading in the other direction. Oh, and he's a pro-torture former POW. DISGUSTING!

He has the political instincts of a blind deaf mute. He is so desperate for more power, he is willing to sell whatever is left of his little black soul for a four year taste of telling everyone what to do.

He has articulated no policy, no vision, and no way forward. He just wants to be in charge. Kind of reminds me of the desperate campaign Bob Dole ran against the freight train of an incumbent Bill Clinton. No matter how much he would whine and pander, his numbers just wouldn't move.

Exactly who is his base, now? There has to be next to NO independent support for him, and wingnut Repukes have Rudy, Brownback and others.

McCain is gonna have to quit soon, I predict. I doubt he wants to get his ass handed to him in the primaries. His ego is tender.

I just wish Arizona could find someone other than this prick. Sure would be nice to be rid of him soon.
