she said that you shouldn't trust a man who is not comfortable with children. jesse jackson was running for pres at the time. she had seen him at some photo op with a bunch of kids, and they were crawling all over him. it bothered him not one whit.
so, i put some store in all these pics of obama and kids. but i gotta say, it looks to me like the man needs a boy.

I've seen plenty of men who were good with children but not particularly trustworthy.

And vice versa...trustworthy men who weren't good with children, mainly because they were anxious, and that anxiety was felt by the babies/children.

i rode the bus with some members of the black nurses association who knew him from back then. said that he would often bring them along to meetings.
they were making fun of him because their hair was always wild. saying you could tell it was dad who tried to tame their nappy hair. they said it with a great deal of affection and respect, tho. i'm sure they are loving telling their stories of back in the day.
the black nurses association were quite a group to travel with, i can tell you...

Kerry is also at ease with children, and them with him.

In fact, you could take almost any Dem candidate of the last decade - Edwards, Kucinich, Dean, Hillary, Gore, Biden, etcetera -- and find lots of pics with them holding happy tykes.

Republican men, not so much. They seem like they're all used to having Stepford wives or nannies doing all the interaction. Might have something to do with why Jenna and Barbara seem like such trainwrecks, whereas Chelsea, and Gore's daughters, and the Kerry girls are such accomplished, together young women, and I have no doubt Malia and Sasha will be too.

He's actually interacting with those children, not just holding them til the shutter snaps. The first pic in the second row just breaks my heart with goodness. He is cherishing that child, not posing for the camera.
