Zenith was the last remaining company with any production in the US, but I'm pretty sure all that moved to Mexico a decade or more ago.... If they have any operations in the US at all (which I doubt) I suspect it is just to try to lay claim on "Amurican made" but they really are not.

... then even though it would be designed in America and assembled in America, the component parts would come from all over, probably mainly Asia.

It's pretty near impossible, even for the Chinese or America, to assemble a very complex electronic device and have absolutely everything sourced from that one country. The oil to make the plastics. The metal. The semiconductors. Everything. Going from raw material to end product these days ... it's a truly global market.

I know of one definite non-American manufacturer of TVs that is definitely not Asian in origin, and you would LOVE to have their equipment. Bang and Olufsen. They're Danish.

I'm not totally sure whether they sell tvs in the US... Bose tends to squeeze them out in most audio markets here.

19. I can't think of any consumer electronics manufactured in the US anymore

even iPods are manufactured in China. I think "Made in America" is a great idea but it's about 20 years too late. What exactly IS made in America anymore? What appliances? What clothing or white goods? What tools or hardware?

Of course, I DO know where there are still some Pet Products proudly Made In The USA (shameless plug).

DisplaySearch has released its Q3'07 Quarterly LCD TV Value Chain Report, which states that 23% of the 20.1 million LCD TV units shipped in Q3'07 were made by external OEMs such as TPV, Jabil, AmTRAN, Quanta, Proview, Vestel and Wistron. Many LCD TV brands outsourced 100% of their LCD TV set manufacturing, such as Grundig, HP, Polaroid, Vizio, ViewSonic and Westinghouse.

Most likely, there is heavy Chinese parts content, with LCD modules from Taiwan.
