Pittsburgh DUers, enjoy your Superbowl XLIII victory
Oh. My. God.

I am still in shock over how your Steelers pulled this off. James Harrison is a freakin' force of nature, and I'm so glad he made the most of his second chance. And Santonio Holmes? What more can I say about a guy who wins the ball game by toe-tapping the end zone with that spectacular catch?

Great job, guys. Well done.

:applause:

1. The Burgh isn't big enough to contain the Steeler Nation.
Grats to the team for pulling out a real nail biter.

2. I gotta admit to being amazed...
Edited on Sun Feb-01-09 11:01 PM by hlthe2b
I'm not the biggest football fan and while I like the Steelers from their early powerhouse days, I didn't feel like I had much of a "dog in the race." But after Harrison made that incredible touchdown-scoring run.... Good heavens. And, Holmes definitely had the poise and control of the ages tonight.

Cardinal fans, this is a tough loss for you guys. I didn't expect it to be so close. Take pride in that. You played it well--extremely well.

3. Thanks! I ran outside and did a "Woooohoooo" to the neighborhood, but
since I'm in Nebraska, I was like a lone owl out there. Oh well.

5. Good game good game.
My boss is a hardcore Steelers fan so Monday should be fun. Of course I was rooting for the Cardinals so it should be REALLY fun.

6. You should've beaten the Cardinals by at least 20
The Cards are such losers, they didn't even show up to play. A truly pathetic Super Bowl...the outcome was evident from the Steelers' first possession.

Oh, yeah, and that Steeler who repeatedly punched a Cardinals player added a real touch of class to the game.

43 seems to be a number of things that suck...Presidents, Super Bowls....

8. hehehe. unlucky 43.
I admit the officiating decided too much in the game, and I never like a game like that. But on the whole, that was an awesome game. :)

7. Steelers Win; MVP The Referee!
Edited on Sun Feb-01-09 11:26 PM by mckara
Talk about some terrible officiating, this game was replete with BS calls that disproportionately hit the Cardinals, including that faux touchdown for Pittsburgh at the end of the second quarter. This was the worst game for the officials since Seattle got hosed a few years ago.
My favorite team isn't either Arizona or Pittsburgh. I can only imagine how Cardinal fans feel after witnessing this officiating debacle.

9. Faux TD?? It was only replayed 62 times from 5 different angles, the ball,
the knees, the body, NEVER hit turf until the endzone, he was rolled on top of fitzgerald. Your virtually alone on that one...

13. Some people
I could understand after Superbowl 40 people talking about the officiating, but after this one? I think the officiating was pretty good. Not an overabundance of calls, but they definitely didn't favor the Steelers (can you say penalty Safety bringing back a first down play?). They overturned a Steeler touchdown call, they called a hold and safety in the endzone on the Steelers, a fumble recovery etc.

The only questionable call from the refs that I can recall is that I thought they should have reviewed that last Warner fumble that ended the game. Maybe they did and saw the replay and felt it looked fine in the booth, but I woudl have wanted to look at that one again I think.

The Cardinals lost because someone has to lose. They had the talent and heart to win, but sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way.

19. also that thug Harrison...
should have been ejected from the game for repeatedly punching that Cardinal's player when he was down on the ground already

Clark and Harrison are two peas a pod when it comes to dirty players who like to use cheap shots

10. Thanks - one helluva game - and my congrats to the Cards
and their fans. My heart was in my throat from the end of the 1st half on!

Love that Steelers Prez Dan Rooney mentioned President Obama when he was accepting our sixth Super Bowl Trophy. And I love that now we have 1 more than the Cowboys!

Maybe the Cowboys will even it up in 2010, yes?

I can dream, can't I?

11. Here, in my hometown 40 miles north of Pittsburgh, some sensible outdoor revelry went on.
The noise of few firecrackers pierced the cold night air, but the celebrations here have remained in check. Of course, tonight in Pittsburgh, the outdoor festivities have been ramped up to a high level. The celebration reminds me of when I attended the University of Pittsburgh at the time the Steelers won Super Bowls in 1979 and 1980, and the Pirates won the 1979 World Series. On this, the the last day of the 2008 football season, a tip of the hat is in order to all of the athletes (high school, college, and professional) who made the season such an entertaining one for the fans.

And lets not forget to congratulate the Cardinals on a great showing of their own. They could easily have won that game, and showed they deserve some respect next fall.

16. Just returned from a big Steelers Super Bowl party. Whoa!
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 01:25 AM by Subdivisions
What a game! The suspense was intense! I'm drunk!

There were some very happy people at that party. There was about 24 people there and 20 are Steelers fans. Needless to say, we were going crazy when Harrison ran back that interception and when Santonio Holmes caught that pass in the endzone in the final seconds for the win.

Great game Cardinals! You showed exemplary sportsmanshipt following your loss and your story is inspirational. Give 'em hell next season and maybe we'll see you again in the next Super Bowl.

An all-round great game. =)

18. I am still pinching myself this morning! Fantastic game!
Don't forget about Big Ben - he put that final drive together setting up the Holmes catch - best catch ever in a Superbowl!!

My emotions were all over the place especially in the 4th quarter. Just when I thought the Steelers were done they came back and won, just like they have so many times this season.

What a team; what a coach, what a franchise.

HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!!!

:toast: :applause: :woohoo:
