What The Hell?
Ok this is very strange to say the least. Guillotines and televised executions? WTF?

Georgia House of Representatives - 1995/1996 Sessions
HB 1274 - Death penalty; guillotine provisions

(a) All persons who have been convicted of a capital
1-23 offense and have had imposed upon them a sentence of death
1-24 shall, at the election of the condemned, suffer such
1-25 punishment either by electrocution or by "guillotine." If
1-26 the condemned fails to make an election by the thirtieth
1-27 day preceding the date scheduled for execution, punishment
1-28 shall be by electrocution.

HB 1085 - Death penalty; televise executions

1-18 arrangements and provide suitable facilities to allow any
1-19 public or private television broadcaster to "televise any
1-20 execution" carried out by the department.

1-21 (b) The State Board of Education shall arrange for the
1-22 "televising of each execution" carried out by the Department

8. Still strange to see it
I mean shouldn't that be legislation back in 1795 instead of 1995? Strange, very strange.

9. I agree. As long as it's very sharp and very fast.
Much better than one of those long drawn-out executions.

12. I can think of a few former administration officials who should be frog-marched to a guillotine
And maybe a few hate-radio modern day Goebbels as well.

13. These replies are not what I would have expected.
Televised decapitations and other executions. I don't mean to be inflammatory but these replies are what I would have expected from a republican board not a democratic board.

Maybe its just me, but, I find this legislation disturbing.

Peace,
Xicano

Maybe there should be a new smiley?

16. Well....
Since it is over a decade old and there have been no be-headings, televised or otherwise, I expect its not happening.

18. There are alot of DP Democrats
I think the convicted should have a choice, up to a point.
But I also consider cages cruel and unusual punishment.

17. Yeah, that was a big thing during the "Republican Revolution" of 1994.
They wanted to "bring back" the guillotine.

They brought back the firing squad for one execution, and immediately dropped it when the prison janitors refused to clean up the mess, requiring the warden to handle it personally.
