I finally saw the film "Primary Colors"

For the longest time, I avoided watching the movie Primary Colors because it is largely a rehash of Bill Clinton’s primary campaign, with a few changes to make it “fiction”. I could not sleep late Saturday night and it was on, so I thought “what the hell”. There was one element to the film that hit home after having gone through the 2008 primaries. You’ll recall in the movie that the character of Libby Holden remarks how they are the sunlight around which so many people gather. It reminded me so much how people described the Clintons, for better and worse. It also reminded me that, no matter how much I supported Obama from the beginning, I have to remember that he is human and a politician. And we should always take care to hold his feet to the fire when it comes to delivering on his promises.

1. It was an excellent movie, well done.

Libby Holden's character was a sad one. Billy Bob Thornton's role as Carville was pretty much spot on.

It was better and more compassionate than the book.

And yes, we can adore politicians, but never let them rest on their so-called laurels.

The movie was also a lesson in how times often require us to look past personal quialities if a person can move us forward.

Bill Clinton, like many of our presidents, is a great guy to be in a room with. Bubba just had no 'off' button in reference to ANYthing. He was always at 'll'. It's amazing his diet worked out well. A friend of mine met with Bubba to talk about a book he'd written and Clinton had to be dragged away. He just loved the conversation.

8. I read the book a few months ago.

Haven't seen the movie yet. I'll dig for it in the library some day. I always enjoy comparing how a movie differs from the original book, and I don't always find the book better - even if significant changes were made.
