Boy they are afraid of John Edwards aren't they?
At work, one of the Drudge-lovers was talking about Elizabeth's "convenient" cancer.
I was like, wtf?
She INSISTED that they "used" her cancer pre-election for the sympathy vote.
It got pretty heated, but you really cannot cure stupid.
These Drudger's eat what he writes, lock-stock-and barrell.
Just got of the phone with a good friend of mine in Alabama.
She attends the University of South Alabama.
She said that she has a professor who was eviscerating Edwards.
He went into this spiel that EVERYONE in N.C. quit delivering babies vaginally and started having C-Sections BECAUSE John Edwards said that babies born vaginally have higher incidences of Cerebral Palsy.:wtf: And now, the evidence shows that THOUSANDS have had unecessary C-sections, and yessirree that man could be YOUR NEXT PRESIDENT.:puke:
I had never heard such a thing, so I looked it up on Findlaw.
Found that the case that he tried showed that it was possible, and at the time, the medical community was split, but one of the underlying reasons he won the case was because the hospital failed to have the patient signed informed consent prior to delivery and EVEN the defense attorney's expert said that he would have opted to deliver this child by c-section.
So, I informed her of the truth...but how many people believe this tripe without question?
That is the scary part.

1. If Edwards' cancer is convenient, then I guess Snow's cancer is, too.
What a freakin' world!

2. That sort of attitude is really 'sin verguenza'--without any shame at all.
Sick fuckers!

4. Edwards makes liberalism one and the same with populism
no one's done that on a national level since FDR or Huey Long. That scares the hell out of the corporatists.

12. Exactly. That's why you don't see him as "front-runner"...
...in the national media.

6. You know, I have no more interest in Edwards due to sympathy.
I must confess, though, that how they have handled this, with openness and honesty and courage, has impressed me greatly. I have a greater appreciation for the Edwards family and how they conduct their lives. This leads me to be more open to hearing and reading more about his platform, of which the health care portion had already impressed me.

8. Contrast that with how Pickles handled her skin cancer
last November. She didn't tell anyone because she's a "private citizen" and, true to the BFEE philosophy, didn't think it was anyone's bizness.

Elizabeth Edwards is a courageous woman. I was thinking this morning how her illness makes her husband's quest for national health insurance makes sense.

9. Oh wow, I didn't know that.
Probably because she kept it secret, I guess. :silly: I can kind of understand that, though - dealing with any kind of cancer has got to be stressful enough without people analyzing your every move...and that's another reason Elizabeth Edwards continues to amaze me. She truly is a brave and strong woman.

7. Edwards apparently has a rather clean life. They can't seem to get any good dirt on him.
In 2004 they tried to use the fact that he was a successful attorney for his "average-America" clients as a bad thing, since he & the clients made so much $ off the bottom-line-is-all-that-matters, negligent, corrupt corporations.

If that is the worst he has done, then give the man a halo! O8)

Lord, knows, they will try to lay some made-up crap on him, or smear him by name calling (Ann Coulter).

But I think he learned their game last time, & is wise to their tricks. I think the American people are beginning to wise up, too.
Let's hope so, anyway.

11. Cancer is "convenient"?
Tell that to anyone who has to spend how many days a week hooked up to a chemo bag or trying to figure out what to eat that won't make them sick. Tell that to anyone who is exhausted from radiation treatments. Tell that to anyone looking at the medical bills. Tell that to anyone who is trying to figure out how to tell their kids that they may not be around to see them grow up.

Yes, cancer is sure convenient, all right. :grr: It makes life SO much easier, it's a wonder EVERYONE doesn't try to get it.

13. I'm struggling with the concept that life-threatening illness is "convenient."
Perhaps there's an oncologist in the house who can straighten me out on this concept. Up to now I had imagined it to be a challenge of the highest degree in someone's life.
