5. Well, the assumption is he's homeless

And following from there the next assumption is that he did something to "deserve" his homelessness. And of course, homeless people are bad people who do bad things, so he had probably earned whatever beating he'd gotten, and it's no business of ours to give the lazy bum a handout!

I know so many people, even who are otherwise totally progressive, who buy into the caste system mentality. If you're down and out, you DESERVE it. If you're assaulted or raped, well, that's what you get for not being successful enough to stay off the streets. It's karma.
