Socialism destroys the incentive in creating better things like medicines, etc... It does not allow for man to be truly free!

What a buffoon!

2. Thom thinks it's instructive for us to hear what the other side is spewing.
I find it very hard to listen to. It makes my blood boil.

3. Probably to try and "talk them down" or to illustrate their stupidity.
Aren't they a trip though?

7. Yeah, dog-eat-dog Capitalism doesn't destroy any incentives or creativity whatsoever!

Just because something like hempcloth could be/is superior to synthetics in all regards, that doesn't mean we should go against the prevailing special interests against Hemp.

Just because you can make a shirt at least as good as, if not superior to, anything China can make, if you don't want to go into debt deep enough to produce the quantities that Wal Mart would need, that's YOUR fault and you need to think of something else to do with your life.

8. Socialism is the only reason drug companies bother creating new medicines.
They are the perfect example of anti-capitalistic behavior.

We are taught in economics that capitalism works because companies are constantly competing to build a better, cheaper widget, and you will make money by out-competing your competition.

In reality, drug companies rely on the extreme government intervention of patent protection. They make a new drug, get a patent to prevent anyone from making it cheaper, then make tons of money through governmentally enforced monopoly until their patent expires, at which point, they create a brand new, patentable drug, market the hell out of it, and start all over again.

Without socialism, the incentive to invent new drugs would be vastly reduced. Why go out and invent the next penicillin if, as soon as it starts proving profitable, your competition can go right out and start manufacturing it too?
