Walmart Greeter Attacked By Cop During Receipt Check Suing For $21 Million

Seventy-one year old Bill Walker says he's suing an off-duty Chattanooga police officer and the Chattanoog Police Department for 21 million dollars in a federal damage lawsuit.

Walker, a greeter at the Collegedale Wal-Mart, says he was shoved to the ground, and knocked unconscious by officer Kenneth Freeman. This happened Christmas Eve. Walker says as Freeman was leaving the store, he asked to see the officer's receipt. He says Freemen didn't stop so he reached out, and touched Freeman's arm to get his attention. It was at that point Freeman hit Walker knocking Walker off of his feet. That is evident in the surveillance video you can watch on NewsChannel9.com.

Freeman has not been charged, but he has been suspended 28 days without pay for conduct unbecoming an officer, execessive use of force and improper procedure. That's the maximum penalty an officer can receive before being fired.

I'm really just curious. In no way do I condone what that officer did - he should be ashamed of himself, knocking an old man down.

Once you have paid for the Items, they are yours and the merchant has no right to touch them. The only exception is clubs like BJs where receipt checking is part of the membership agreement.
