I've seen so many threads today referencing how awful DU is today. I've seen nothing that looks the least out of the ordinary. What exactly happened that so many people are in a tizzy over? I mean, I want to join in the tizzy, but I can't find it!

5. You know what's doubleplus funny about my post?

It was a double entendre. Last year I screwed up and I'm still paying it back. Mine was about $1000, a few less zeroes and I'm not running for anything.

I think online message boards are a kind of Roschardt test (sp). If you're stressed/angry, you're going to gravitate to those things that reinforce and go along with that feeling, and you're going to perceive an environment that seems more stressful. (And let's be honest, these are stressful times for so very many).

If you're in a lighter mood, all the online anger in the world isn't going to phase you very much.

There are some days where I lurk on DU and think it is absolutely bugfark crazy with how angry people seem to be. The next day, while nothing at all has changed in people's posting habits, I'll calmly read through and feel a great deal of affection for the posters here.

We always bring our own baggage into social settings and react accordingly.

I think the economy, the challenges of the new administration, and what is happening in this country have a lot of people feeling very anxious about the future, and it's being reflected a little on the boards. Just life =)
