I'd like to tell President Obama an old, old joke
Lots of posts in here concerning indictment/prosecution of Bush administration officials, as well there should be. The one about Rove cooperating with a republican prosecutor is fresh in mind. The list of potential charges could conceiveably date back to Cheney's secret Energy Panel meetings, and range from lying to Congress to the Valerie Plame outing to war crimes & torture to DoJ hirings & firings to corruption with Iraq "contractors"..... Jeez, I can't even remember them all. But they go ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP. Let the Constitution be your guide.

And then there are our thieving CEO's, bankers and financiers who are largely responsible for the economic black hole in which we now find ourselves,... and, for that matter, the legislators who collected bribes and campaign contributions in exchange for whatever enabling legislation was required to facilitate the looting of the American Dream. No shortage of culprits here, eh?

But very few of us out here in the real world believe that anyone is going to have to answer for what they've done. Okay, maybe Bernie, but he could be a sacrificial offering to appease the Parisian Mob.. We're getting used to this, you know.

Remember now,... in the midst of all this, the eyes of America and the world are upon you. Accountability? Transparency? No double standard? The rule of law, and nobody above that law? Did we in fact spit out the neocon poison? Oh yeah,... times are tough, too,... don't forget that.

Okay,... here's the joke, Mr. President. I told you it was an oldie, so if anyone has heard it, please don't stop me....

An old rural farmer is visited by his city-dwelling nephew and he decides to educate the fellow in some of the ways of life on the farm. To wit, hitching up his mule to plow an acre or two. But once the mule is hitched to the plow, and the old farmer bawls, "Awright mule, git goin' .... the mule just stands there. The farmer repeats his "git goin" command in a louder tone, but the mule remains motionless.
The nephew shifts nervously as he watches the farmer let loose of the plow reins and pick up a length of two-by-four. Walking around to face the mule directly, the farmer swings the two-by-four like a baseball bat, striking the mule right between the eyes and nearly dropping the animal to its knees. Aghast, the nephew stammers, "What the hell did you do that for?"
The old farmer spits a stream of tobacco juice and drawls, "Well, sometimes you gotta get his attention before he'll cooperate."

Mr. President,... those of us who voted for you LOVE accountability, transparency, the equal application of the law that no man is above,....... But you have to show us,... proove it. THAT is the CHANGE WE NEED, okay? Otherwise, there will be corporate and political crooks for as long as they continue to get away with it and get rich in the process.

Crunch time.
