Adopting Embryos??
The Mississippi House of Representatives is considering a bill which would allow "people to adopt embryos, either frozen or not." I'm not smart enough to comment on this burning issue; I am however happy that the state legislature is also considering a little assist for Medicade recipients.

5. Follow directions on package: For best results, cook 2 minutes in microwave
:)

I guess they won't get a handwritten letter every month.

3. Where do you keep an unfrozen embryo?
Mississippi would be much better off spending its money on actual children (since it's toward the bottom of most child welfare indicators) as opposed to this nonsense.

14. Oh No
Mississippi kids only need be taught abstinence relative to sex. Why the state has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation is anyone's guess. Its a burning issue in the Magnolia State now, and of course, religious doctrine and instruction is at fault for absolutely nothing.

4. Why don't they adopt
a child from the foster system who needs a decent life NOW. But Nooooooooooooooo!
they'd rather act all pius and defend the sanctimony of life while kids are going
without.
God is not going to be happy with some of these people.
I hear the Karma train coming!!

7. It's an end round to declaring embryos
as human life, thus making abortion at any stage in the pregnancy against the law, since it would be an act of homicide. Don't kid yourself, those Anti-Choice fanatics are going about this at every angle.

8. Oh, the far right will be so happy
More "snowflake babies"!

We recently met "snowflake twins" at someone else's house. It was all I could do to not say something that would get me tossed out of our hosts' home. It's hysterical to me that people will spend the huge sums of money involved to adopt someone else's embryos, but don't give a damn about the 500,000 children currently in foster care in the United States.

15. Mississippi Statistics
#1 in obesity. #1 in teen pregnancy. Unmarried Obese teen girls having babies while churchs insist that abstinence only is the way. We are running out of Medicaid funds but we can adopt embroyos. Frozen or not.

12. not in my state but some states have a strict teacher - embryo limit.
I think California requires one teacher for every 500,000 embryos.

21. Excellent Idea - Adopt Sperm Cells
Its the pro life thing to do. I don't know how prevalent that is in Mississippi since we have the nations highest rate of teen pregnancy so our lil teen boys are using their boys instead of flushing them.

17. Excellent Idea
but its not law yet. I'm gonna keep an eye out for this pressing issue taking up the time of our state legislature as Medicaid is just about broke. Lordy how much damage have "christian conservatives" done to our country?

20. It's
Christian Conservative Priorities. Mississippi - We're Number One in Teen Pregnancy, Obesity and Diabetes amongst other things, our Medicaid funds are just about depleted BUT the legislature must expend time and effort to consider allowing people to adopt Embryos, and to make abstinence only remain the number one method of sex "education." And most vehicles have either a confederate flag, an old W sticker or McCain-Palin sticker or a combination thereof. Sad indeed.
