instead of primarily tax cuts, free trade measures, and republican dogma, you will soon see a big third party movement IMO. People have had enough of this especially the union people who worked very hard for the recent victories.

2. If the political system allowed the viability of a major 3rd party... |
|
you would already see one, or two

|
The system allows for two parties..a ruling party and an opposition party..

6. The electoral college provides for exactly two political parties. |
|
And the stimulus bill already concentrates on tax cuts.

7. It does it some good areas. But the tax rate is not going to pull us |
|
out of this in a meaningful way. No economic activity is no economic activity. A real jobs stimulus is needed. It is needed at least as twice as much stimulus as the 18 billion in CEO bonus money

11. actually it doesn't provide for any parties. |
|
The 'winner take all' tradition institutionalizes the two party system but is not mandated by the electoral college system described in the constitution.

Congress could easily be a multi-party system since it only requires a plurality, not a majority, to get elected to Congress.

I think there are parts of the current stimulus package that absolutely suck. That $20 a week or so in additional take home pay to traditional employee taxpayers excludes as whole lot of taxpayers with less traditional yet taxable earnings. It is unfair and inequitable and will do ery little to create jobs. It will piss off those taxpayers who are excluded. It would be far more effective to invest all of these funds into additional SBA funding to new and small business loans. The big corporations are not going to create enough jobs anytime in the forseeable future to replace those that have been lost. Lots of those newly unemployed are going to need SBA assistance in order to create their own source of income.

10. if they don't pass the job creation bill we are FUCKED |
|
and harry reid is fucked (he's already fucked) and it's gonna fuck this country and obama as well.
on the other hand, there will be plenty of people able to vote next time around--because no one will have a fucking job and they won't have to worry about getting time off.

12. Absolutely. I think are they trying, but it looks like the republicans, yet again, |
|
are trying to sabotage everything.
A number of us here have been wringing our hands trying to figure out what we can do besides send furious and enraged emails to the people responsible for this war against the stimulus package.
It's profoundly depressing. I had a gut feeling this would happen; there would not even be two weeks honeymoon for Obama. But I don't think the republicans understand how popular Obama is, and this could and should blow up in their faces.
What can we do?

than very Local people if Democrats blow this opportunity to turn America around and into something we can once again be proud of instead of ashamed of. I am still at the stage of God Damn America instead of God Bless America unless dramatic change comes to pass this year..
