Why do right wingers become snake-oil salesmen?

Facebook has allowed me to catch up with a lot of folks from my past. Of course we've gone into different fields but I noticed something funny. The ones who are now progressives and/or Democrats either hold "regular" jobs or run businesses. On the other end, nearly all the Republicans, especially the ones now in the extreme edge, sell Amway or some other similar products. What is it about these pyramid schemes that draw the crazies?

3. I have found

that extremists on either side are more likely to be sucked into stupid schemes. Often because the more extremist someone is, the lower their IQ is in turn. They are like sheep to the slaughter. They just need someone with more brain power than themselves to push them in the desired direction.

4. Ummm, they always were snake-oil salesmen. Selling "conservatism".

Like the Bush brothers. Not one of them has ever done "real" work. They start businesses that get revenue from government contracts, they are politicians, they borrow money from people to run businesses into the ground, They sell their influence by "consulting" fo r companies getting government contracts,etc. etc.
