1. Do they still have Pete Hamill on occasionally?
He's really their only worthwhile semi-regular guest. Welch's legacy is making NBC News a propaganda arm of GE.

3. They've clearly been prepping for Jack all morning
The SEC bowing to the Wall Street set??? What?? Who's... Just impossible to believe!!!

:eyes:

Jack is clearly coming on to talk about keeping the "top people" and "talent" in the CEO positions

4. Oh, I can't wait!
The last time I saw him on Morning Bloe, it was nothing but hate for Democrats, hate for Obama, hate for pretty much everything I believe in.

What a hollow husk of a human.

5. Oh god
So Welch is justifying corporate greed with business meeting analogies:

"I got two banks that want my business. One wants to take me to lunch at McDonalds. Theother wants to take me on an all-expenses paid trip to the Bahamas. Which bank am I going to give my business to, Mika? Huh?"

11. Banks are in the business of business!! and their business is taking trips with other executives
aside from the obvious skewed reality (especially in the current environment) that THAT is business not doing regular operations says tons.

Yes I realize that wooing clients is important and the normal course of business but the normal course of business is how we got here. They are clearly more worried about perks and slobbery kisses than with signing on with people who will protect their assets or -dare I say- be good bankers.

Jack also wants you to think that executives pay for these trips, perks for clients (no hookers of course), and Super Bowl tents out of THEIR pockets. Limiting pay is limiting pay I don't know that anyone is talking about restricting marketing expenses.

Wow Jack you are really some kind of genius-you managed GE :eyes: which means that you made a ton of money off government contracts DoD and otherwise.

I don't know how to do that or I would. At the very least, it would make great material for an ad.

27. the repo business is probably really good right now
and those empty houses can be bought up for cheap
which a GOOD banker knows :-)

well they would know if they weren't so busy "wooing clients" on trips to the Bahamas -not McDonald's because those clearly are the only two options....according to Jack Welch.

6. I was channel surfing a few minutes ago and heard them all
comparing the current stimulus bill to the hold-the-gun-to-our-head IWR. They have no idea that this stimulus bill is about creating jobs. They hate America and Americans.

12. "Oooh HE is here" said Mika as she jumped up to run over and greet the mighty Jack
the guy from the Washington Post (forgot his name) tried to make two points
-these are banks that have taken government money
-maybe they should be allowed to fail since they aren't good at.... CUT OFF my Mika with (I am not kidding) "No let him finish" pointing to Joe who WASN'T TALKING. She interrupted the reporter to let Joe finish talking when he wasn't actually talking.

WOW

The NYT did charge for their online content and stopped charging because nobody visited their damned site.

29. Damn it is worse than I thought- Tucker's bio...tell me what *this* sounds like
Family and education

Tucker Carlson is the son of Richard Warner Carlson, who has been a member of the Project for a New American Century and the PNAC offshoot Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a former banker, a Los Angeles local news anchor, U.S. ambassador to the Seychelles, director of the U.S. Information Agency, and president of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He also established Lewis Scooter Libby's defense fund. Tucker Carlson's mother is the former Patricia Caroline Swanson. She is an heir to the Swanson's food fortune. He has one sibling, Buckley Swanson Peck Carlson. Carlson's maternal grandmother, Roberta Fulbright Swanson, was the sister of U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright.<2>

Carlson attended St. George's School, a boarding school in Middletown, Rhode Island. After graduation, he majored in history at the private liberal arts Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He is married to Susan Andrews, with whom he has four children: Lillie, Hope, Dorothy, and Buckley.

Journalism career---*****LEGACY*****

Carlson began his journalism career as a member of the editorial staff of Policy Review, a national conservative journal then published by the Heritage Foundation (and since acquired by the Hoover Institution). He later worked as a reporter at the regionally influential Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Carlson most recently served as host of the MSNBC program Tucker, which was canceled on March 10, 2008. Carlson joined MSNBC in February 2005 from CNN, where he was the youngest anchor in the history of the network. While with CNN, he hosted a number of shows and specials, including the network’s political debate program, Crossfire. During the same period, Carlson also hosted a weekly public affairs program on PBS, Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered. As a magazine and newspaper journalist, Carlson has reported from around the world, most recently from Iraq and Lebanon. He has been a columnist for New York and Reader's Digest. He currently writes for Esquire, The Weekly Standard, The New Republic and The New York Times Magazine and The Daily Beast.

depends on monetizing the internet so people can pay pennies here and there to get information. All I could think of was how unwieldy a system it would become.
