"Does the President believe in separation of church and state?"
Way to go Helen, just now on the WH news conference. Obama is keeping a faith based initiatives type office in the government.

said yes, the President does, then blah blah blah blah... In other words, not a real answer. A non-answer answer.

6. I really don't understand this...

Clinton didn't have an office like that.

This press secretary gives off the southern slime ball/good ol' boy/douchebag vibe. I don't like that. He reminds me of a relative of mine.

4. that "faith-based" CRAP has to go!
that is one of obama's more annoying kumbaya things. we can "reach out" to the religiosos without actually giving them an office in the white house.

7. Isn't it great that Helen is back asking questions?

I love that lady. The faith base crap has got to be phased out which
I hope is the plan.

8. Doubt it.

Another question about it now...says that they've put a process in place to preserve the constitutional principles the President holds in high regard. I think we know this program really wouldn't exist if someone cared enough to stand up against it.

10. "if someone cared enough to stand up against it"
Good point.

We now have a "Faith-based Industrial Complex."

We have to keep feeding it; it's too big to fail.

11. I heard his speech today and
he laid out the multiple belief systems that he grew up and was influenced by as well as explaining his personal reason for his choice for himself. He also made references strongly acknowledging the many diverse beliefs that make up the world and our Country including Buddhism, Humanists, etc.... He also stressed the common ground of all belief systems which basically was "love and caring". He stressed the separation of Church and State and that this Agency would work at insuring it as well as making sure there was no favoritism toward one Religion over another as well as Agency/non-profit or whatever over Religion and vice versa.

I was comfortable with it as I am Theosophist leaning Buddhist/Humanist in my belief system.

I think that what I was hearing is that help will need to come from everywhere and that this will insure equalization. Better than Bush's policies I would say.
