I don't want to jump the gun but with the news of Ginsburg today and the fact that being able to appoint SCOTUS members is one of the most important things to come from Obama's election, I'm just curious who you'd like to see there?!?!?

How are you going to argue that she unqualified if you're a Republican? She's on face-value more qualified than anybody that Bush nominated. The only thing she lacks is federal bench experience and that's made up for by the shear amount of time she's spent as a lawyer in front of the federal bench and SCOTUS.

She's in every way the perfect successor to Ruth Bader Ginsberg...who also gained prominence in the legal community as a hard-nosed unrelenting lawyer for the ACLU who asked sharp questions and cut opposing lawyers arguments to shreds.

She was a prosecutor before she did the show and she is sharp as a well honed tack. She's not like the other pathetic TV judges - like Judge Judy or that asshole guy in Chicago (can't remember his name). She catches everything and has an excellent liberal perspective on things. Hey, so I do not have a law degree, have never held an elected office and generally behave like a liberal version of the boorish Rethugs that drive me crazy.....BUT....I DID graduate from the same high school that gave us Chief Justice Roberts (much to my chagrin) and I believe it would only be fair to allow me to serve a counterweight to him on the SCOTUS!

How hard could it be really? Essentially my job would be to object to anything Roberts says and to rule opposite him and Scalia on every issue that requires it...I think we could have my 11-year old daughter perform that role!

69. I'm not a huge fan...

by no means a liberal or even a left-leaning-moderate politically, is considered to be a legal centrist and holds her personal opinions way too close to the robe for my personal liking. I fear that she could be our Souter, who was appointed by G.H.W. Bush and was thought to be a marginal conservative during confirmation but votes a liberal POV 70% of the time.

Everything I fear can be summed up in the fact that supposedly G.W. Bush considered appointing Sotomayor for the seat currently held by Alito until it was made clear to him that the GOP party base and Congressional representation might revolt if he appointed anybody who refused to vocally-take a staunch pro-life position.

The last thing we need is a justice appointed by a Democrat who goes maverick and votes with the Scalia/Thomas/Alito block any appreciable % of the time.
