I hold nothing against any DUer who is doing well in this economy. I applaud you for picking the right career, the right company, the right sensible shoes.

But many on this board are really hurting. REALLY hurting. The details are in many threads - job losses, foreclosures, untreated illness, homelessness.

If you think your mocking them is the "adult" thing to do, you, my friend, have no compassion and no soul.

Click on the happy cheery threads, avoid the sad ones and you won't have to trouble your beautiful mind with the hopelessness that so many are feeling.

Your humor does nothing to make anyone but you feel any better about the pitiful situation they may be in right at this moment.

They need to vent, not be mocked or chastised because they are hurting.

I know FOUR people, only two of them in person, who are seriously depressed about the world and their life situations. One is hanging on to a temp job month by month, and is falling apart from depression. Another has been unemployed for FIVE years after being laid off for psychiatric conditions (yeah, it's illegal, the state of Florida did it, they win, YOU LOSE.)

The two not living near me are unemployed or under-employed. Struggling on an Angel Food Ministries level, except one is in Wasilla, Alaska (yep, that town) and there IS no Angel Food in Alaska at all.

All the time they ask one question: "Are we all screwed?"

I have spent most of my conversation time telling them over the last year that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have been trying to keep them from the suicide they have been threatening. Now after two weeks of Obama, they understand that this light is an insane gorilla holding a torch and waiting to tear them limb from limb. And nothing I do can shake them from this and I'm tired of lying to them about reality.

So take your expensive damned "sarcasm" icon and your brilliant wit and go jump in front of an oncoming train. And I am utterly serious about that.
