1. retired, fixed income. have a three hour job with my sister's biz

because she wants to see me every day. (our parents passed ten months apart shortly ago and she's still morbid about life and hope in general)

I can and will work more if necessary which after seeing my heating and light bill may be sooner rather than later. :+

2. There is a good chance my wife and I might be out of a job considering

our jobs deal with luxuries.

4. Pretty secure about my job

Though there have been cuts of "fringe" positions, such as a four-hour midday shift.

5. Tenured professor. Hard to get rid of -- but not impossible.

They could shut down whole programs and departments.

6. We're barely getting by

They were talking of laying off 2 people (out of 7) for 2 months but that passed a week and a half ago.

Now they're talking about making everyone go to 4 days a week starting next week.

That won't pay the bills.

8. I'm self-employed, but started getting social security

in November. The woman I contract for (I'm a legal transcriptionist) dropped one of her largest clients (the Alaska court system) before Christmas because they hadn't given us a raise in 9 years and other issues, so I'm only working a little, if at all. I have rental income, plus my husband gets a pension, so we're doing okay. I got old just in time.

Our company is not doing well. We may be sold. Not sure what happens if we are sold. This has been going on for a few years now but still. Nothing is guaranteed.

14. Technically, I have a job

but they haven't had any work to assign me since September. I'm a part time marketing writer with a small PR firm, paid by the hour. The workload has gotten smaller and smaller the past 2 years. I've been looking, but no luck.

17. Three months ago, I had a full-time job

that was scheduled to turn into a pumpkin at the end of 2008. I managed to find a part-time job with a utility company that has a possibility of turning into full-time. In any case, it's likely to hold out longer than New York's unemployment fund.

18. Laid off last week...

The entire office was closed and local operations were moved to corporate headquarters in MO.
It was very unexpected...Corp showed up, announced they were closing us up and asked us to leave.
No severance, not even a thank you or we're sorry.

And I'd brought in over 100k revenue since Jan and won't get a dime of the commission.

I was laid off January, 2009.

Trying to stay positive, but actually scared beyond belief.

25. I have a job that I feel is secure. Not just because my boss has

assured me that I'm "part of the family" but also because we're in the solar and wind power business.

But...knock on wood...

26. Worried, but not due to the ruined Bush/Paulson economy

the agency descended into chaos nearly a year ago for reasons unrelated to the larger economic meltdown.

If and when, the fit does hit the shan, as a specialist who interviews slightly better than the Ebola virus, I'll be in extrememly deep kim chee. :scared:

There's an outside possibility my dept could be contracted out.... but contractor would likely hire current employees. Would lose some major retirement benefits, but would still be employed so you wouldn't hear a peep of a complaint out of me.
