$7 for a "power nap" on USAirways.....
:wtf:

AP via Yahoo!:

US Airways to charge $7 for pillows and blankets

TEMPE, Ariz. – If you want a pillow and blanket in coach on US Airways, it's going to cost you $7.

US Airways said Thursday it will begin charging for its "Power-Nap Sack" on Feb. 16. It's following the lead of JetBlue Airways, which announced a similar policy last summer.

Airlines are adding fees on checked luggage and now pillows and blankets to raise more money as they battle a downturn in travel caused by the recession. US Airways reported that January traffic fell 6.2 percent.

Kevin Jackson, a marketing official for Tempe-based US Airways, said selling the pillows and blankets "is a natural extension of our 'pay for what you choose and use' model we began rolling out last year."

Jackson said the sleep kit was an affordable way for passengers to increase their comfort while flying. ........(more)

21. That's not funny. It happened to me.
When my son flew home for Christmas, the airline lost his luggage. So he asked them if can he get his $15 baggage checking charge back. The answer was no. "We have no idea where your bag is, but we won't refund the money." WTF?

18. The day airlines begin to charge for bathroom breaks...
Is the day the adult diaper industry will flourish.

Either that or there will be giant cans of pee everywhere.

7. This one sounds like a purchase rather than a rental.
There were earplugs, which aren't really reusable. Plus they said the kit would be available for purchase on the Web site.

Still, the article was unclear. I usually bring my own travel pillow anyway.

10. remember when people were treated with dignity when you flew?
now you are CRAMMED into the cabin like a passenger train in Mumbai, given a shot glass full of ice and a spit of soda, no meals, no blankets, cannot recline or you'll crush someone being you, slower flight time, long layovers.

They get away with it because what alternative do you have? Ride a Sequeway to SFO?

20. yes, but
in 1976 if cost ~$400 (in 1976 dollars) to fly RT from San Francisco to New York. Last month I paid $300 (in 2009 dollars) for the same trip. I'd like a decent meal and all, but not enough to fork over several hundred more dollars for it.

12. FUCK US Airways. Seriously.
On my flight from DC to LA They tried to charge me $30 for FIRST bag plus an additional $15 handling fee because I booked my flight before a certain date. Not only that the clerk was being a complete jackass about it. And they charged for the damned drinks. Non alcoholic at that. Oh lordy do I hate that airline. Never again after that.

14. All the airlines could make a fortune if they charged a basic fee
known as the "asshole-self-indulgent-I'm entitled-to-being-treated-as-royalty-fee"

I suspect they'd all be rolling in money within thirty days.

17. True story
Was on a St Louis to Tampa TWA flight in the late 70's
T storms had been coming through prior to our departure time, so things were delayed and we were in line for takeoff and it was already about 9pm central
Suddenly a fight attendant came running from the back of our 727
Then she and another, perhaps more senior, attendant came running back to the, well, back of the plane
Then the senior attendant ran forward again
Then the intercom comes on with the announcement that we're returning to the gate
Some idjit fell asleep on the plane's previous flight from Kansas City to St Louis and just woke up
It's a 727 so they let him out via the door in the tail
We didn't get to boooo or slap him with (whatever) while he made his way to the exit
