Taxcuts in "jobs bill" is continuation of Bush policies.

At the present time, 38% of the so-called "stimulus bill" is for taxcuts, most sought by the Republicans. This is already a victory for the Republicans but they want more. They are holding up the bill in attempts to get more taxcuts. They understand the natural impatience of the Democratic Party and they believe they can squeeze more taxcuts out of the Democrats.

If the Democrats go along with these taxcuts, it is nothing more but a continuation of the failed Bush and Reagan taxcut policies of the last 28 years. We don't need to "cut" taxes - we need to raise taxes. It is a fallacy to believe that higher taxes keep companies from investing or hiring. It only makes them work harder for their money. They do not hire from the goodness of their heart or because they have more money on hand, they hire if they think they can make more money for their stockholders and CEOs.

The Democrats are losing this battle. How will they repeal the Bush tax cuts or let them expire after this new round of "tax cuts"?

9. So the other side aren't the only ones distorting the truth

To throw out the canard that the tax relief included in the President's Recovery Act package is the same as the tax cuts as have been promoted by the Bush-led GOP is just plain wrong!

The tax relief in this package is essentially to benefit the middle class and ALL working Americans. This proposal even makes sure that it is done through the payroll mechanism so that working people have more money in their paycheck... money they will spend. Even if a worker ultimately doesn't make enough to "pay" taxes at the end of the year, they'll still benefit.

President Obama promised during the campaign that he would lower taxes for 95% of Americans. This is part of him keeping that promise. I'm sorry you don't like it, but it is one reason (of many) that he got elected. I consider it disingenuous at best to equate what has been incorporated into this legislation and the ineffective "tax cuts" of the Bush regime.
