3. The ones I'm concerned about are the charities, pensions, and grant organizations -

The groups that work hard to help people. Apparently, he was smart enough not to seem to be "too much of a good thing" and advertised average returns that were believable if a smart, good, careful financial person was actually doing the work.
It's bad when well-off people are bilked, especially ones who worked hard for the money to be invested. It's worse when charitable organization being bilked hurts a good percentage of a community, and there's no resources available to be able to recover from. His greed is a contributing factor to thousands of people living in pain and hunger - he might as well have just broke into the houses of poor families and took all the food in their pantries. Who knows how many deaths - or violent crimes committed by the hungry or disenfranchised - that his activities had a major part in.

He stole money from communities as well as people. A high-tech bank-robber or home invader.
Bargaining for time in a federal white-collar prison is unjust, "Class War" coddling - especially when someone poorer or less well connected would rot in General Population in a New York state pen...Let him face justice for his crimes, instead of having those of his "class" try to protect him as one of their tribe. 'Cause they won't do anything other than secretly wish they could get away with the same thing - and would treat him as they would want the law to treat themselves when they steal for their own profit.

4. One of the Foundations that closed its doors

Was a big supporter of a good program here Michigan, that is now struggling for its existence. Its a program that helps recently released prisoners integrate into society and become successful citizens. No one else wants to fund this. It may be there by the end of the year now, it may not. Madoff has a special reward coming in the afterlife for the amount of pain he is causing and will probably continue to cause for years to come.

7. That is a great map for displaying wealth concentration in this country

I see the usual suspect represented, Sun Valley, ID; Jackson Hole, WY; Aspen, CO; Maui, HI; Taos, NM and that spattering across Montana is around Livingston, where a lot of wealthy have purchased extremely large ranches.
