Alabama Senator Shelby, the Obama Stimulus bill and special projects

Alabama's Senator Richard Shelby (R) spoke before the Appropriations committee January 27 outlining his opposition to the Obama Stimulus bill proposal. Read here how Senator Shelby procured over $13 million for Alabama in just two weeks in January and how his expertise has funded Head Start Programs, funding for fire departments, airports and universities in Alabama but is opposed to funding through the Stimulus package for the same spending in other states.

It's unbelievable and yet it's not unbelievable because it's all true. He gets millions every month for Alabama while saying he's against the Stimulus package because of spending for the same types of projects all over the country.

she just took my information and said ty.
Shelbys office was a different matter. After she found out what my position is, she lit in on my as to why I was so very wrong. All the talking points. And that ALL the calls coming into her were to vote NO. I said a few choice things (with no cursing) and finally had to slam the phone down. I was so furious. Like I said, I knew it was a waste of time, but my conscious wouldnt let me NOT call.

I hope someone from his office reads my article. The entire thing shows a long list of monies Shelby got from the federal government from Alabama and that was just for this month. How in the world he can actually say he's against spending in the Stimulus package when he's getting money for exactly the same type of projects for AL at the very same time is outrageous. And I'm sure this is why he has been laying low on the Stimulus package. Remember how he was all over the news about the Wall street bailout? In this case, he knows he can't say a whole lot because he's such a hypocrite.

3. Good article, but I found one mistake

"Senator Shelby was elected to represent Alabama in 1986 and has been re-elected every four years since then." Senators serve six year terms.
