Republicans need the stimulus bill to fail....

A stimulus bill heavy in infrastructure spending is a huge threat to the Republicans' ideology. If it were to be successful, the Republicans would be left in the political wilderness with their crazy-assed ideology for generations....

This is why they want spending limited to the point of being ineffective....this way they can gut the bill during debate for passage and then vote against it. Then when it ultimately fails they can point to the Democrats as having the wrong ideology to save the country....

and it will work, and then the pukes are going to be stuck with the rope they wrapped around their own necks while they watch the Dem's receive the acknowledgment for getting our economy back on its feet.

The ONLY reason they keep fighting so hard against it is because at this point they have no other choice. The House painted the pukes into a very small corner by not supporting with even one vote. Now they have to continue with the blatantly false rhetoric that is going to lead to their demise. They are terrified that this bill will succeed and will do ANYthing they can conceive in their skewed feeble brains that they think will help this bill hit a wall.

The New Deal proved that massive government spending creates jobs which in turn create demand.

Republicans want to kill the spending portion to effectively kill the chances of success.

Dear Editor:
Watch for the Republicans to do everything possible to scuttle President Obama’s economic recovery programs—not because they fear Obama’s proposals won’t work or won’t help the average American, but because they know they will. As Ken Blackwell (candidate for Republican National Committee Chair) put it a few days ago when speaking of Obama's job creation plan, “One overlooked issue is that it could create a major electoral advantage for Democrats at taxpayer expense. That would be unacceptable for what is being touted as a nonpartisan measure, and gives Republicans yet another reason to oppose it.”

In other words, the Republicans not only realize that President Obama’s economic plans will work, but fear that the collective Republican political goose is cooked if he can implement those plans. As usual, we can count on the Republicans to put the interests of their party and of their rich friends above those of the country by obstructing and filibustering every progressive piece of legislation to come before them.

6. You're not wrong as to their intentions, but

from what I have seen so far, the things they cut were not significant parts of the infrastructure spending--except for the schools portion. And any of the things cut can be passed on their own separately later.

8. What they need is irrelevant

I don't know why anyone is even listening to them. They are now nothing more than a small portion of society. The election was clear on that.

We don't need them to approve it. We don't need them to contribute to it. We don't need them to pass it.

In fact, I'm very leary of any of their contributions and their approval is an indication of problems.

Frankly, the Republicans just need to go home and let the adults fix things.
