I blame Harry Reid for what is going on in the Senate right now.
I don't think Harry could sell a blanket to a cold person.

There is absolutely no leadership on that Senate floor.
It is like a 3 ring circus and nothing is getting done...there seems to be more confusion today than there was yesterday. Now I hear Voinovich is out.

We seriously need some kickass leadership or this is going to be the scene for the next 4 years.
This should've been a no-brainer. If we can't even get the Senate in shape for this bill which is very much needed - think about what's going to happen when we try to get UHC passed?

Close your eyes for a minute and imagine how different things would be at this very minute if John Kerry was the majority leader. Barbara Boxer. Russ Feingold. They'd be framing the debate, taking names and kicking donkey.

It's almost painful to watch....

1. It's SO incredibly frustrating!
Is there anything we can do about it? Can we petition against Reid and for Boxer/Durbin/Kerry/Feingold/etc.???

48. I used your address to express my feelings
about Pelosi and Reid. Nice people, but, not effective in helping with his program to move us out of the hole we are in. I almost feel like a turncoat. Those are two well meaning people but the repubs run all over them during debates. Boxer spoke this a.m. and I was totally impressed and inspired. She was a damn cheerleader who made sense. This is not want I wrote Obama, ha, it was short and simple.

Otherwise somebody in the Senate would bring up his performance issues and actually compete for the position.

61. The main problem Dems have now is the fact they don't
have Franken's vote. If they had Franken on the floor--sworn-in and ready to go, this process would have been a lot more eaiser. The sooner the whiney Coleman jerk loses his case, the better.

But I agree 1000% Harry Reid is a total failure. Don't get me started on his caving on FISA last year, or not blocking Alito/Roberts vote. Reid is a wimp.

36. Lieberman is a backstabbing piece of shit.
Harry was never about to strip Joe of anything, IMHO. I'll bet Harry talked Obama out of shit canning Joe if the truth be told. I don't trust Harry anymore. I'm tired of his caving and whining and caving some more! The man is STILL an invertebrate.

I'd almost be willing to bet you that if things don't soon change in the senate, Harry Reid will be turned out to pasture by his own people in his home state the way Tom Daschle was.

If Harry don't have the guts to stand up to the GOP after this past November, I don't hold out much hope for him ever getting anything much done. It's like the "CHANGE" that we the people voted for, is not registering with Harry. I'm guessing that Harry was BushCo's abused whipping boy for so long that he still feels like a prisoner of the neoCons. He's like the crazy man who kept walking in circles thinking he was tied up, the first time he wore a neck tie.

As much as we wish Obama could fire Reid, he can't, we cannot want an Imperial presidency when we like it and hate it when we don't. Simple fact is, The Congress is now our enemy. Reid and Pelosi will do perfectly well with whoever runs in 2012, as it will assure they get to keep their cushy jobs.

Is Mitch McConnel so fucking charismatic? The guy is less charismatic than a tree stump. He could not sell water in the Sahara.

This has nothing to do about salesmanship. This is the same bullship bipartisanship we have been dealing with for eight years.

Besides, we are doing everything possible to defeat these moronic ammendments.

Eating our own right now is pointless. An obviously much better use of our energy is writing to these motherfuckers in the repuke party, or else figuring out to coordinate a meaningful asault against them.

We need to be smart right now, and intelligent, and come up with ideas. Not just piss and moan.

40. The porblem is not so much Reid.
The problem is the people who own Reid and too many other Democratic Senators and Congressmen.
The PROBLEM is the corrupting influence of the DLC, and the Millions of Dollars of Corporate influence INSIDE the Democratic Party. Regardless of what they say to the TV cameras, when it comes to actual performance, he DLC is and always will be Supply Side.

When the smoke clears, this "stimulus package" will disappear into the already bloated pockets of the rich, with only token monies going to the other 98% of America.
Then the usual suspects (DLC Senators) will line up in front of the TV Cameras shrugging their shoulders and saying that they fought hard, but there was nothing they could do. Then they will board their corporate jets and fly away for a lavish "fact finding" mission to some exotic warm place.

Life is GOOD if you're in the top 2%.
Why rock the money boat?

They should have done things differently. They should have put aside their differences with the republicans (I know that is easier said than done) and worked with them from the get go. Although I would, under no circumstances, work with the diaper wearing Senator from Louisiana. How is that dude still in the Senate? Our side did put too much stuff in the bill that should not have been in there. The republicans are difficult to put up with, but we have to work with them for the good of the country. I think President Obama is on the right track as far as being bipartisan. I think Reid and Pelosi need to get with the program.
