17. There is no point trying to hype someone else as Majority Leader.

Unless there is a scandal, resignation, retirement, death on the part of Reid there won't be a change. They already voted their leaders for this session and won't change otherwise until after the 2010 elections.

I have never cared for Reid as Majority Leader but he is not really the problem. There are a few Democrats in the Senate that don't fully support the bill. His job is to corral the votes necessary to pass the bill. Maybe a concession is made that gains a few necessary Republican votes but then it might also lose nearly the same number of Democratic votes.

And then there is the House with 435 different minds. Even though there is a 256-178 split favoring Democrats capturing the votes has been difficult because some never ran as a real Democrat.
