If you are right, it's hard to even care anymore. Maybe it's time to toss in the towel.

Obama could not even win his first fight?

Some of you say it is because of the Democrats.

Others say it is because of the Republicans.

Either way, it sucks beyond words...

Part of me just wants to quit. If we can't win this one, and there is not even going to be a three week honeymoon for our new President, then what is the point? Like I posted last night, they don't even care that we hate them. They don't care if we despise them. They don't fear being thrown out of office.

How do you defend against politicians like this?

Or to put it more bluntly, What the fuck do we do????

EDIT:

President Obama's inaugeruation was the happiest day of my life. It was just awesome beyond words. But what does it matter if his vision can not come true because of opposition from a party that is not even opposing his ideas on logic, but just on ideology alone.

10. Well, back when he was up for reelection, I was told by the
folks here on DU that if I 'failed' to vote for him I might as well be a Republican because that's what the result would be - can't win for losing, I guess.

Frankly, I've never liked the man. He's a tool.

15. Yeah, I took some of that same shit.
People can't seem to figure out that we need good Dems, not just any Dems.

Yes, the head-count is important for committee chairs, etc. but if they vote and sound-bite badly, then they do more harm than good.

In all future elections, we need to be willing to sacrifice the advantage of incumbency at primary time and send forth to the elections people who are actually worth backing.

Pelosi, for instance, should have been buried in the last election -- yes, even if it meant giving a seat to a puke. She's been that bad.

How about the alternative energy stuff? That still in?

I dunno- you think that's important for our future?

11. in 2010 we need to consider all the Democrats who stood in the way
of this being a great bill and work with all our strength to have them replaced with better Democrats. We might not knock only one or two out, but even that might send a message.

13. Here's what you do.. First find your reps and their stand on issues and
their voting record. If you do not like the way they do business or think they are sleazy, then find a progressive voice in your region or state that may have a name or some clout. Then you campaign like hell for them.. that way, we get rid of the asshole blue dog fucks and the republicans. Use your anger for changing the way business is done... Also, work really hard for local reps. Those local reps often run for higher office. If you have tools that the Chamber of Commerce is backing, then you will get a tool in Washington.

System. I did not vote for Obama and not because of race . I voted for Gore and he walked away and then Kerry and he walked away and then the Dems once again in 2006 and they sat there and did nothing at all.

I voted for who I knew had no chance but it was a vote of conscience this time and not for a repub.

We have many of the same weak Dems still in office as we did in 2006 and yet somehow people still believe in them when what have they done other to enable the Repubs and this is what still gives the repubs power , they represent the 56,000 who voted for McCain.

Everything is scrambled into a mess where no one can find the beginning of the ball of string and I feel looking for hope in the political arena if futile at best. They have their own interests at stake and these interests have funded them through lobby groups which are corporations.

WE really have to know by now who has the power and it's not the politicians but the people verses the corporation and the politicians are the middle men. The people are the ones out there holding the bag handed to them through trust.

But the people will do nothing because of fear that has been beared down upon them for 50 years or more.

They tell us they b=needed 750 million of bailouts or the counrty would fall apart and now it's another trillion or more and who can sort out this new stimulus package or what it will or won;t do. This is another do it quick and don't think about it. It's feels like a car dealer pushing a car loan on you.

I am sick of politics and the games. Just lay it all out on the web and let everyone see it and let everyone see and know who is who in this new admin.

i can't look at the TV one second longer because it is a selling machine as are the political talk TV shows.

GE brings good things to life as long as it makes them a profit.

The entire thing is fucked up. Bailing out the big three is fucked up and they use union jobs as the mindset, let the big oil bail them out since they have worked hand in hand for decades.

It's all so tiring and frustrating and it does nothing but divide people rather than create community which is what we need. Without that we will never get through this madness.

People look at the stars and popular figures as if they have the answers when they are just promoting themselves for the most part and not one of them know anyone of us.

ONe day an issue is news and the next it's evaporated into the ether and forgotten and

it is replaced by another issue and all it is is a time spot to sell you something , anything as long as it sells.

What ever happened to the human being in all of this , well we were used and bought and sold like goods and we have a shelf life.

19. Huh? $780 billion stimulus bill is the biggest such type bill in history
and includes much of what Obama asked for. It's not much cheaper than the House bill which was about $819 billion.

21. Obama has SOOOO WON this fight!
He's let the rethugs blow all their ammunition. Now he's just started punching them out. Brilliant article in WP today. To be followed by prime time teevee address Monday, where he can bypass the rethugs and explain it directly to "the people."

The compromised bill will pass the senate.

Then, apparently it goes back to the house, where it will be put right.

If I understand correctly, it goes through a committee vote in the house, then back to the senate where only 50 votes are needed to pass it. Even with blue dog traitors, it will pass.

22. Did you think getting Obama elected was the hard part?
Not even close. Obama speaks of bipartisanship with the knowledge while knowing he'll be fought all the way. When all is said and done with the stimulus bill he will be able to claim a double victory. It will pass and will have a few Republicans on board. Success.

Obama knows Republicans want him to fail. He knows it and he's one step ahead of them. His entire presidency is going to be a battle and if he's willing to hang in there and fight for us, then I will keep on fighting too.
