... is apparently totally not into girly stuff. She is a self-described butch lesbian. TV, however, requires makeup--as Dick Nixon learned to his regret. And she's really pretty in it, which is good for audiences.

I read a really fun interview with her in New York magazine just days before the election http://nymag.com/news/media/51822/ In it she portrayed herself as dressing like a 14-year old boy -- which is what you see when she visits Jon Stewart or Dave Letterman: jeans, sneakers, big shirts, spiky hair -- and those geeky glasses.

Her suits at work are deliberately neutral: “If I’m wearing a gray suit, people aren’t going to talk about what I’m wearing,” Maddow explains, “therefore, I will wear a gray suit every time I go on television. That was sort of the plan.”

Both Mr. H and I enjoy Rachel's show immensely. He wants to adopt her (we're a lot older than she is, LOL). We like intelligence, and she is one of the most intelligent and well-informed people on tv outside of PBS.
