I have always liked NPR's Scott Simon but today he had on Joe Scarborough?

I heard a broadcast on NPR refer to a FOX NEWS STORY as it's source last weekend. I stopped for a second and thought they are gone. They have been taken over by the RW. They keep a few liberal relics around to play the Colmes role.

But I hardly listen to 'em any more. Sadly somebody came in
and dropped $1.5 million to buy the license of our local progressive
station in Columbus, OH .... the right wing still owns AM radio even
as it's #s keep going down.

4. Every time I turn on NPR I hear a Republican

Admittedly, I am an intermittent listener - listen in the car, but I drive a lot for work. I hear nothing but Republicans on the stimulus, and worse, not one question that could not be described as a three-sylable version of what FOX might put out there. NO question of the framing, no challenge, just more of the same old horse-race reporting: Ds vs Rs not substance. They are worthless in my book.

That people think NPR is liberal is quite dangerous IMO.

9. The were despicable this week talking about the IBM offer to let

their laid off families follow their jobs to India at local wages. All cheerful stuff and isn't that innovative and generous (implied).

Corporate hate from IBM, then Public hate from NPR.

They are the most contentious entity in my mind. Their weekend programs are wonderful. I know I miss some good reporting during the week, but I'm going to stop again. I'm going to block them off for anything news and news commentary. The way I feel is NPR holds contempt for me to feed that right wing slant and propaganda.

I thank them for the many years of neutrality. Long gone.

10. I listen when the local NPR station has on the BBC

9 PM to 5AM

I suspect that the right wing has control over some
aspect of NPR on the national level .... and just like
"they" planted stories in the NY Times and quoted 'em
back as proof the "liberal media" supports us .... I think
"they" get more than a fair shake from NPR now.

Wisconsin programs all morning, then they go to the National Public Radio feed, and that's when I turn it off. I always give to the local end of our public radio.

11. NPR had Newt (The Great Gasbag) Gingrich blowing hot air the day after the Inauguration

(iirc -- maybe two days after) -- as though what Newt thinks is of any concern to anybody?

I sent NPR a scathing e-mail (being a long-time Public Radio member) asking what on earth they were trying to accomplish by interviewing such a discredited has-been on such a momentous day.

They also seem to be doing more and more fluffy stuff -- cheap to produce, I suppose.

12. yes, the fluff stuff keeps increasing

"story corps"...the atrocious "sound clips" or whatever they called it..the irrelevant, trite, totally predictable "commentaries" by some somebody somewhere. More and more stories that are nothing but "person on the street" interviews - fine as a complement to in-depth reporting, but they omit that. As if any of us can't hear the same shopworn "comments" around our own water-coolers or supermarkets. Really, I don't have a good word to say about their reporting anymore, and they don't and won't get a dime from me.

The Scar was gassing on and on about something as Scott said "Joe....Joe....Joe...." with no effect. The theme music even started playing to end the segment, but on and on talked Scarborough. That's exactly what he does on his own stupid show! What a blowhard.

19. Well, NPR has long been gone . . but someone just posted info that

the president of NPR now is someone who worked on CIA propaganda and

moving it into other countries --- by radio, I think.

Tell me you have sensed that NPR hasn't been on the level for a long, long time--!!!?????
