What's happened in the last two weeks?

An ice storm took out my power, which was just restored yesterday evening, and I'm playing catch-up. The only radio station my emergency radio would pick up gave no national news, so I'm at a loss as to what happened with some people, and would appreciate anyone letting me know about them.

1. First of all, how is Ted Kennedy? Is he still well enough to take part in the Senate?

2. Second, what happened to the clown who was governor of Illinois--Blagojovich? Did he testify at his trial--was it surreal? I assume he was convicted and has been stripped of his office. What's happened to him now, and what's happened with Illinois--do they have an election for a new lieutenant governor?

Yes, I know I could probably google this and find the answers--but I am playing catch-up with work and so don't have much time to spend online. I greatly appreciate anyone who can fill me in about these two issues--the former obviously being the more important.

2. Hey, I'm glad you got your power back.

I was out of town, but can tell you Blago was impeached. He then went on Letterman and made more of a fool of himself.
As for Uncle Teddy, he was in FL, but is supposedly en route back to DC to vote on the stimulus package, maybe tomorrow.
And Franken really needs to be confirmed; we need his vote desperately.

4. Teddy was flying into D.C....

to vote on the bill. Blago was a no-show at the hearings, but was on every tv show imaginable. I caught a glimpse on Letterman, but I guess he made the rounds. Pat Quinn is now the Governor.

6. He went in on the last day of the hearings and rambled much like he

has on all the t.v. shows.. Rachel had fun with him. Anyway, he did show up at the last minute.. then was impeached, then gave a crazy interview outside of his home and had kids and old people there saying we love you, we support you... Then he tried comparing his unemployment with the many in America losing their jobs... he even spoke Spanish.. it was nutso.

I did miss comedy in real life! Ah well, I had a peaceful time in the quiet and dark.

5. You missed comedy gold with Blago

instead of showing up at his impeachment, he went on a "talking tour" of all the major networks. He painted himself in no specific order as Robin Hood, as a persecuted political pawn -- "the fix is in". He also compared himself to all the people who lost their jobs during the massive layoffs that characterized the last two weeks-- through no fault of his own. He even went on The View. He is seriously quite the sociopath and egotist and has no basis in reality--very delusional.

Then he shows up the last day of the impeachment hearings to give a monologue lasting about 1.5 hours, and refused to answer any questions at the hearing but called a huge press conference to his house that night asking reporters if they will come when he calls now that he is not governor anymore.

It was very surreal-- it pretty much crossed the line of believability (I think Hollywood would consider it too absurd to write in a film). Truth is stranger than fiction.

Ted Kennedy returned to Washington to vote on the bill. I think he is spending most of his time at home surrounded by family.
