1. Not all bad

Scaling back the tax cuts for those who don't need it as much is at least a step in the right direction.

Tax cuts for home and car purchases may turn out to be stimulative - might save some autoworker jobs and slow the slide in the housing market.

However, the huge cuts in spending programs and aid to states looks like it is bad enough to destroy the effectiveness of the entire stimulus program. Obama should veto the bill and put that spending back in.

2. Does someone have an easy-to-read digest of what's IN the bill?

I'd be much more interested in that than in what's been cut from it.

Please be patient with me. Economics is probably my weakest academic subject.

3. I totally agree

I put together this OP because I thought it would make it easier to see the proposed changes in a simple list format rather having to scan through lots of articles.

I also wish I could do the same condensed version for the stimulus bill as a whole.

Its disgusting that it is so hard to find this information anywhere in a society that is so technologically advanced and information rich such as ours.

5. We need to pressure our Reps to fight for their bill which while not perfect is

far superior to the Senate version. Hopefully a good bill can be arrived at in conference.
