I'm heading back to Vegas...what shall I tell my "old friend" Harry Reid...
Without going into the long boring details, I'm soon to be heading back to Las Vegas, NV. I am Nevada (Las Vegas, specifically) born and bred.

I've met with Harry in the past (he liked my freckles). :eyes:

As a former and (soon to be) current constituent of "Give 'em hell, Harry," what would you like me to include in my first letter to him when I get back home?

This thread will be bookmarked and used for future reference in LTTEs and calls and letters to Harry.

I'm not kidding.

Say it here, please. I've got a bit of time to collate (and make "clean" *snort*) the responses.

Edited on Sat Feb-07-09 11:30 PM by Ken Burch
The dull, timid, obedient ones don't accomplish a thing. Neither do the ones whose politics are a courage-free zone.

Harry Reid never went to the wall to fight for anything.

61. I expected people to contribute something useful...
silly me.

"Grow a pair," is hardly effective advice to give a senator; unless you're his parent. Even then I'd presume he'd just tune it out. Many people will do that when all you have to offer is name calling and criticism.

I wanted to see what concerned people the most. Instead I get a bunch of useless, flip answers. If I'm putting my name to a letter and I hope to be the least bit effective, "grow a pair," is f'cking useless.

67. FYI, "Grow a pair" is a euphemism for "Show some courage", "display some toughness",
"have some guts", etc, etc, etc,.

"Grow a pair" is exactly what Harry Reid needs to hear. You are playing the same semantic game that the D.C. insiders play. "Oh, they weren't polite, so we're not going to listen to them."

The time for being polite is LOOOONNNG gone. The Senate is debating the fate of millions of Americans and our Democratic Senate Majority Leader is showing once again that he does not have the guts, intestinal fortitude, balls, cajones, nads, courage, chutzpah, brass, to handle the job.

Quit trying to hide the truth from Harry. He may be good for Nevada, but he is VERY BAD for our nation.

19. He needs to stop being a milquetoast. Our country is in crisis very much right now and
even more so than it was after 9-11. Caving into the corrupt Washington culture because that's the way they are used to doing business is doing his country a grave injustice. He has a majority now, if not filibuster proof one, so let them filibuster. I was so disappointed that in order to get a few Republican votes we lost 42% of the necessary funding to make the stimulus package work. The three ring circus on Friday of amendment after amendment cluttering up the debate made me wonder who was in charge if anybody. Ask him if he can do that and if he can't, please step down so someone like Barbara Boxer or Russ Feingold can take over and do what needs to be done.

20. Good luck, Cerridwen.
I have written him a number of times. Either no response or a canned response . . . my personal favourite was writing him via his website, using one of the standard 'topics' he provides (education/energy/Yucca Mt/etc) then addressing another issue. The response was canned for the topic I selected, not the body of my letter.

I voted for him the last time he was up; I won't do it again.

25. Dear Harry
Please take a moment to review the election returns from 2006 and 2008. The people of the United States are really crying out for Democratic leadership. You know that 40% or so that voted for Republicans? You're never going to win them over by trying to be like the Republicans. You're never going to win most of them over regardless of what you do. But you will win over a few of them by enacting policies that your party advocates, and that, as a Democrat you're sort of supposed to believe in.

So get cracking. Enact the will of the people. And quit letting the electoral losers run the show.

also wondering why you think "balls," as described in our society is considered a "good" thing.

Take a look around you.

These "balls" which you so highly regard, have been in charge. How does that look from where you are?

I see failed economic systems, questionable social systems, and wars without end.

"Balls" appear to have gotten us where we are; whether they are paraded by men or women.

Howzabout we quit "waving" them in everyone's face and get down to taking care of people and, you should excuse the expression, "fuck the balls"?!

Einstein - doing same thing expecting different results, etc., etc., etc.

The repukes should be a piece of cake after what he survived in Vegas.

57. would you please tell Harry
that to PLEASE not allow the bill to be cut up...
to pass it with all the stuff cut out makes it "worthless" or less effective or pointless.

Let the republicans filibuster. Let them do it, and they will look like the fools they really are.

If this thing passes all cut up, then when it doesn't work (because it's been cut up) they will say,
"see, we told you it wouldn't work."
And you KNOW that is what the media would cover.

But if the senators will stand up TO the Repukes, for the American People....then they and Obama and will look like heros.
(Because they actually WOULD BE)
Call their bluff. Let them filibuster. We KNOW they are wrong. ENOUGH!

The only way to out a bully FOR what he really is is to stand up to him. Most bullies back down. And if they don't, you can just keep doing the right thing and
let people see what a bully they are. They always go back to the rock they came out from under.

I don't care about making the Republicans look bad.
They are doing that enough by themselves.
Do the Senate Democrats want to look bad? Because they seem to be letting the Republicans make them look that way.

Do the Senate Democrats have some kind of syndrome like abused people do after a long period of time of being powerless?
After the abuse is over, these victims keep making decisions like they are still trapped? Is this what they are doing??????
The storm is over.
Let's get out from underneath these bullies and start acting like the party in power, PLEASE!!!

Nevada resident Margaret Frye-Jackman, 71, was diagnosed in August with ovarian cancer. She had two rounds of chemotherapy at University Medical Center, the only public hospital in the Las Vegas area.

Soon after, she and her daughter heard the news on TV: The hospital's outpatient oncology services were closing because of state Medicaid cuts. Treatment for Frye-Jackman and hundreds of other cancer patients was eliminated.
