Ed Schultz and Freedom 570 WTNT

Starting on Monday February 9th The Ed Schultz Show will move to a new home for Washington DC listeners or on-line listeners. Freedom 570 WTNT will carry The Ed Schultz Show from 12PM-3PM ET Monday through Friday.

Freedom 570 has a great signal that will make it easier for people in the nation's capitol to hear the Truth & Common Sense that Ed brings to the table every day. Ed Schultz has put himself right in the mix of the news by moving to DC. He has daily talks with the leaders that are pushing for change in America.

Freedom 570 WTNT will carry a mix of Conservative talkers surrounding Ed. They are capitalizing on the ever expanding center of the political climate in America. Ed will continue to bring his style of balance to the radio dial in Washington DC every day.

The Ed Schultz Show on Freedom 570 WTNT, Change We Can All Believe In.

.........

Our local Columbus, Ohio station went off the air 2 months ago and now carries a Catholic religious diatribe - 24/7. I would hope progressives would get behind our MSM radio host like Thomm Hartman and Ed Schultz and give them our backing! We have very few radio voices now! Thanks to WTNT for picking up Ed! I wish another radio station in Columbus would pick him up again and I could have something more then NPR to listen too in the car or at home without streaming.

4. Who do we have out there then to listen too? NPR? Why don't you get on the radio?
Seriously - I would be glad to support anyone with a liberal viewpoint.

8. I don't have to.

It's subjective and he holds very conservative views. You can think how you want.

Edited to add--considering that he is just a silly radio host, there really aren't any "important articles" on him, just blogs and blog entries. But ANYONE who does not support gay marriage and abortion are NOT liberal NOR are they progressive.

http://ltradio.wikia.com/wiki/Ed_Schultz
Schultz considers himself a "progressive liberal". As such, his talk show is generally considered to be a liberal-leaning program. He is pro-union and centers a large portion of his radio show on the "plight of working class Americans". He has also repeatedly stated that he is a liberal Democrat willing to change political parties upon necessity.

However, Schultz is not universally liberal in his views, and in fact holds several views on social issues which would commonly be considered conservative. Schultz, for example, is opposed to abortion (though he does not want Roe v. Wade overturned) and gay marriage (although he does not believe there should be a Constitutional amendment banning it).

9. I wrote him off
when he harangued and bitched and whined and moaned and pleaded and demanded that we find out what the President-elect knew and when did he know it about Blagoevich trying to sell a senate seat. He's just Rush with different talking points to get people to call in.

10. THIS is the problem with liberals
I knew this thread would be full of people bitching "OMG Ed Schultz isn't a real liberal," etc. He doesn't meet xyz standards or expresses opinions you disagree with, so fuck him.

THIS is why conservatives have a stranglehold on the media. I don't know that many Republicans, but the ones I know all defend their media personalities vigorously. I have asked them, incredulously, whether they really believe the shit that Rush, et al, spew, and their answer, almost to a person, is something like - "of course I don't, but at least he tells it like it is." They don't cut Rush off because they disagree with some of the shit he says, or even a lot of the shit he says. As a result, Rush gets attention because a lot of people listen to his nasty show.

Liberals will never challenge conservative media dominance because we refuse to even entertain anyone who does not adhere to a rigid and often confusing ideological litmus test. We'll cut off our noses to spite our faces and nasty conservative shitlickers like Rush will continue to mop up the carnage.

11. "He has also repeatedly stated that he is a liberal Democrat willing to change political parties
upon necessity"

Does not support abortion nor does he support gay marriage.

It sounds to me like he is a parasitic opportunist who is willing to go to whichever political party gives him the better gravy train. In fact, he claims he WAS a conservative...when the truth is closer to that he is STILL a conservative but there is too much competition on the other side of the aisle in talk radio and he can't cut it.
Sorry--but I don't support someone who CLAIMS to be one of us--they have to prove it and Ed has proven in many ways he is NOT.

The REASON conservatives have a stranglehold is not because those that are truly progressive don't embrace this farce, it is because the masters deem it so and when they DO give us a choice, it is a false choice (Ed is a false choice).

14. I am fully aware Ed Schutlz is not a big liberal
But the point is that he is NOT in the same league as Rush, Savage, Hannity, etc. People like us aren't the kinds of people swayed by talk radio. If you had to choose between, say, semi truckers dulling their long hours on the road with a) Rush or b) Ed Schultz, then Schultz starts looking like a hell of a lot more attractive of a choice.

You can call it a false choice if you want, but frankly, ANY voice out there that isn't a part of the right wing hate squad is a step in the right direction.

15. See, this is the deal
I'm TIRED of false choices, ya know?
You, go listen to Ed. Enjoy.
I will not waste my time.
What good is ANYONE on our "side" who would be willing (for the right price of course) to change sides in the middle of the game?
Like I said--false choice. Not progressive. Not Liberal. DINO, at the very best.

16. Did I say I listened to Ed, or even that he isn't a DINO?
Did you even read my post? It's not ABOUT people like you and me. It's about Joe Blow who doesn't think any more deeply about politics than what he hears on the news or the radio, and I'd rather Joe Blow listen to Ed Schultz than Rush.

I hate talk radio. I don't listen to progressive talk radio, although I'm glad it exists, sort of, for the people who do like to listen to it. This is not about me. I know the sorts of people who listen to talking heads, and they are easily influenced. If a time slot that could've been filled by a fascist gets filled by DINO centrist Ed Schultz, then I can't see how that's not at least a step in the right direction.

17. Trying awfully hard to sell Big Ed aren't ya?
The man is NOT a Liberal. He is NOT Progressive. He is NOT one of us. Is he better than Rush? Sure, but so what? Is that the limit of your aspirations? Setting Ed up as the voice of Progressives on your local dial is worse than not having one at all. When one doesn't exist no one is quite sure where the center is. Set him up as the "Left" and you drag the whole debate rightward.

Fuck Ed.
