Obama health care savings tip: |
Offer free and convenient HPV vaccine to all women and girls 9-26 years. Just like any other vaccine for school, but optional and free. Offer free Thin Prep and Pap Test to all women. This combo screening can detect over 95% of early stage cancer.
HPV strains cause about 70% of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is very preventable, and thats the CHEAPEST and most comfortable way to treat cancer. The HPV Vaccine prevent about 90% of genital warts as well as prevents cancer.

1. The HPV vaccine needs a few more kinks worked out before we |
shoot up our 9yr old daughters.. one of the side-effects is sterility. I'm sure many would-be grandmas would be kicking themselves later on when their daughter is going thru all sorts of procedures just to become pregnant. This one needs to be out there a little longer. AND perhaps we should encourage safe, loving relationships. Sexual responsibility. I really hope that my 9yr old never becomes sexually active.

5. I didn't know the vaccince was to allow sexual activity at 9 years old |
I thought it was given to prevent cervical cancer at a later age.

7. It doesn't prevent all forms of cervical cancer.. It prevents the HPV virus |
which can lead to cervical cancer. HPV is the virus that is being prevented, and that's a sexually transmitted disease. When my doc suggested I get the shot, after being married, knowing I'm having fertility problems.. I swiftly canned the fucker.

2. This isn't the problem. I'm betting just about anyone can find a free |
clinic for a pap smear or mammogram. (As for the vaccine, that's another matter entirely since we're just hearing about some of the side effects previously hidden.) The problem is the woman who has a positive pap smear or a lump found on the mammogram. If she can't afford insurance and is too wealthy for Medicaid, what is she to do? The treatment is the problem. For the time being I'd rather not know I was dying of untreated cervical cancer since I couldn't afford to get treatment. A whole lot of us have had it up to here with "tips." We want action on universal healthcare now.

6. True, Americans just can't get past treating disease and see prevention |
as the cheapest and easiest way to go. Prostate cancer is a prime example of a preventable/treatable stealth cancer.
