I'm looking for a chart re: Wages vs The cost of living

Am I imagining things? I swear that I've seen a chart that showed wages haven't kept up with inflation.

Does anybody have a chart or a link to a chart showing this.

4. Just go to BLS.gov and look for real wages..or google it

Your argument, as I predict it is, can be encapsulated within real wages alone, which have been stagnant for decades.

6. Sounds like you are looking for "real wages",

wages adjusted for inflation. Here is a table I found:

The problem is, I really don't trust the government's inflation estimates. They are easy to manipulate, and many people believe they are vastly understating the amount of inflation we have experienced in the last few decades.

7. One very easy way to look at it is:

If minimum wage had received the same COLA as SS for instance, what would minimum wage be today? COLAs are designed to just keep you even with inflation. I don't know the answer to my question, but I know others do - I just didn't want to throw an incorrect number out there.
