For those saying "change takes time"... I've already run out of time and money:
Facts:

1) I've been unemployed since December 15th.
2) I have been unemployed far too much in the last year.
3) I am broker than shit.
4) I have bill collectors calling all the time.
5) I have no prospects for a job right now.

Change had better hurry its ass on up already!!

1. Good luck to you, ddeclue
If it's any consolation (and I'm sure it's not) I'm angry as hell on your behalf. The banksters that got us into this bullshit are whining because their bonuses might be limited...while **millions** of hard-working Americans like you are suffering for their mismanagement, dishonesty, theft, etc. On top of that *they* get a big fat government bailout (underwritten by *YOU*) while you get nothing but best wishes from anonymous people on the internet. (It really is all I have, though.)

2. Go bankrupt
Let the freakin' banks absorb the loss. That's what that gazillion-dollar bailout was for.

Get 'em off your back so you'll have at least one worry off your mind.

I wish I could help somehow, but I'm broker than shit at the moment, too. :(

5. That would so make my life more difficult if I did that...
1) Can't get a security clearance if you've declared bankruptcy in the recent past... they claim you are vulnerable to bribery. In engineering, right now about 95% of the available jobs are defense jobs requiring clearance.

2) I'll be 50 before I can buy a house if I do that.

3. The change has already come.
They had a change of command in DC on the 20th--Obama took over from a guy named Bush.

Other than that, don't expect miracles. It's going to be a slow process, made more arduous by a honking bigass deficit, way too many obligations in terms of expenditures, way too few jobs, an economy that is creaking along, and a boatload of malaise, anger, confusion and disappointment. Oh, and prices are rising on things like food, that we cannot do without.

Keep trying--keep applying. You may get a lousy job, but any job is better than none.
