or withdrew in 2001? I seem to remember he had some difficulties.

1. It was a 50/50 split in the Senate before Jeffords left the GOP. |

Giving Cheney the tie-breaking vote, meaning that they didn't have much trouble pushing their main guys through IIRC.
I remember Ashcroft being one of the most controversial, but as we all know he did win confirmation.
