Nothing like billing for a telephone conversation with a dead man. And then you have Enron. When Key Lay went to V&E it was not about the concerns of Sherron Watkins. It was about the concerns about Sherron Watkins. V&E responded with a discourse on how to deal with whistleblowers. Mr. Hutchison of course became "of counsel" not long after Enron collapsed. But still rakes in the cash. As does she.

And of course Phil Gramm is one of her supporters in her run for governor of Texas.

Her Democratic opponent in the race in 2006 could have made an issue of the connection, and the corruption, except she was a partner at V&E. Until she challenged Kay Bailout Hutchison.

The real problem was the "Democratic Women for Kay Bailey Hutchison." Who believe she is one of them. Which is a scary thought. Perhaps she is.

And so it goes as Linda Ellerbee would say. Life in Texas. Which is life in a political cesspool. The money trails alone are fascinating. There is no such thing as party loyalty in Texas when it comes to money. Democrats funded by Republicans. And occasionally Republicans funded by Democrats.
